Apart from some recent rain in the Los Cabos area, there hasn't been much to talk about with regard to tropical weather in the Eastern Pacific. Looking at this morning's radar, that could change soon...

Luckily the storms so far have all stayed off shore….

Evidently a high pressure dome in the Eastern Pacific has steered tropical activity to the west, as evidenced by the storms in Hawaii. It seems the current red blobs will meet the same fate, but it's still early in the Pacific hurricane season.

Looks that way. Windy.com shows a storm off of Acapulco now building to a hurricane, but it's heading west without a northerly component...today.

The rotation of the high pressure system over the four corners area is bringing moisture from those remnant disturbances to central California.

Tonight's lunar eclipse is likely to be obscured by clouds, with a chance of rain by Friday in the central Sierras.

The storm now has a name - Karina. It's forecast to steer clear of Baja, but will still have an impact on weather in the form of rain and rip currents.

Ever notice how things start getting "interesting" when we get up above the "K" names?

I have the feeling that this could be a season for the books.

But then, as my grandpappy mighta said*,
