...we didn't get the Rum rations in the Naval Air part of the USN, but we still drank it strong and black. These days, we still head for the stronger brews, French Roast and the like!

Wow, I've also got several morning pic's like yours after an early rise, north of you on Punta Arena at Armando Naranjo's beach. It's usually very 'still' at that time in the morning - about three years ago, when up early, I could hear first, then see several whales way across the Bahia heading north. The intense 'whoooosh' sound of their exhaling was eerie in the early morning stillness - the 'water' was alive!

In Bahia de Los Angeles a year or two back there was some concern about Escalera Nautica and the Mainland Biggies bringing in their own workers and the locals getting shut out of any benefits from the additional work. So the locals suggested to the know-it-alls that they consider the next bay north (Remedios/Guadalupe) and the mainland boys said that was a good idea.

What the big boys didn?t have was any local knowledge. While I don?t know the subsurface conditions at Remedios/Guadalupe with the detail necessary for constructing one of the new Escalera Nautica marinas, I have significant experience with the above surface conditions. There is wind and lots of it. It puts Bahia de Los Angeles to shame when it comes to wind. And Bahia gets its own share, from all directions.

Apparently the ejido folks got a good laugh when the big boys from the mainland took their suggestion seriously. I really don?t know if this is a true story, but I was told it by folks in the ejido that I trust. But your point should be taken seriously. Baja?s ?progress? is nipping at our heels.

Maybe there's a nice protected bay that's suitable for development on the east side of Concepcion???
