i am making a maiden baja surf voyage both for me and a newly acquired 78 ford camper van that has baja written all over it. like i said i have never
been before and as the the departure time nears the butterflies are at a frenzy. i plan on staying for right around a week and am looking for any
fellow travelers heading that way. i don't think i'll make it much further south than el rosario but would appreciate any company, conversation, or
just plain good advice that may smile upon me.

Go. Be a little causes, follow the rules but enjoy! The people are friendly. The best thing that will get you father is a smile and politeness.
Just remember your still on planet earth and everybody is human, good or bad.

and slow your internal time clock down as quickly as possible. You can't have fun in Mexico if you're in a hurry, even when you've only got five
days. I always make it a point when I go to Baja to plan "X" amount of time for the trip, but pad it on the return with a few more days so I can lay
out longer and not feel like the vacation is being pulled out from under me. I don't know if you have that luxury, but...I don't know the northern
state of Baja California, but I do know that once you get a load of the area between Santa Rosalia and the tip of Baja Sur, you'll definitely be
hooked for life. That trip requires at least a month to enjoy thoroughly, though. Have fun. You'll love it. -Stephanie

I agree with Grover, go south of El Rosario to see what many of us call 'the real Baja' (far from cities, telephones, and paved roads). Highway One
now allows quick access to dozens of interesting side roads to the coast and interior points. Is your truck, 4WD? That permits even deeper penetration
into Baja. El Rosario is 5 hours drive from the border, if you have a week... then go south! Punta San Carlos is the hot windsurfing spot (http://www.solosports.com), it is 35 miles from Highway One at Km. 80. (14 miles from El Rosario). Halfway in, a side road goes left about 7 miles
to an interesting fossil and petroglyph grotto, Las Pintas. The ancient Indians had a lot of fun in this boulder filled canyon. This is just one of a
hundred or more fascinating locations in Baja!
