Great!!!!! As if it isn't hard enough for the "local Mexican population" to make it from pay check to pay check, what with the increased prices of
propane (for their cooking) increased prices of food at their tiendas, increased price of their gasoline. Keep this up, and everyone will want to
come to live in the states, because the prices in Baja keep getting closer to the states prices every year. And living in the states means, "better
wages" than in Mexico. 2% here and 2% there adds up to greater poverty for those who can't afford the 2%

Local chamber of commerce is against the proposal..........
Still I think the new governor will get away with a 1% tax.
Tax and spend is back in fashion also in BCS..........next will be real estate...........

I don't know what everybody is complaining about. If Mexicans actually paid their fair share there would be no need for additional consumer taxation.
Mexico's GDP is effectively taxed at 12%, the lowest in the Americas. Estimates are 60-65% of the economy is "off the books".

I just went to CSL to shop at Costco, City Club, Soriana's, and our favorite mercado CCC.
As I keep a memory of the past costs for food items, I witnessed the overall rising cost of every item we purchased today.
Yes, we can afford it, but I really can see the Mexican family consumer cringing. Not all mind you, but the big stores will become only viable for the
shoppers with money. I guess the poorer families will continue to "eek" it out at their local, little corner mercados.
La Paz has Ley and Aramburo, and City Club, and Soriana's, and CCC.
We shop there every other trip. Same-O,,,,,Same-O.
Saludos,,,,mc
