Living there, costs.

Anonymous - 5-14-2005 at 08:20 AM

Hi,

I live in UK and have just returned from Punta Banda which I found was the most wonderful place I have ever been and can't wait to get back there as a retiree.

I know the cost of living is a lot lower there than here in England but I a trying to do a comparison on some of the bills I pay now, and some of the bills I will pay when in Punta Banda, I hope someone can help me with my questions.

There are just the two of us and would like a rough idea on propane and electiric for a month, how much does basic sattellite TV cost and do you have to pay a license fee. How much is phone rental and how much will internet cost me. I know the Pila charge is about $30 a month, how much does bottled drinking water work out to, say per 5 gallon bottle.

Is there such a thing as vehicle license and how much does that cost.

Is it better to have US plates or Baja plates

What other costs are associated with renting a property.

Loads of questions I know but would be really pleased if someone could answer them for me.

Thanks

Dave

Non-Mexican citizens loosing their homes are NOT the norm. Comparing to the thousands of happy land deals made annually...there are only those few that didn?t do their homework (or got a good con) lost their homes / lots. Be careful?but don?t believe all deals in Mexico are rip offs! Not true. Not even close.
English are you? I can tell you that the cost (of living) in Mexico is about 60% less than it is in England! Come?and live like your Queen and King!

I have done my homework on Punta Banda, unlike a lot of the people who didn't and lost their homes, even at the last minute some still had the chance to renegotiate, but that is in the past now. I have met many happy secure residents there, who own their land in banktrust.

I have estimated on what I have been able to find out that I could save about $600US a month.

Can anyone let me know about the Vehicle, California plates or Mexican plates, which is cheapest and which is best. I only intend to cross into USA three or four times a year

Cheers

Dave

Buy your car in ensenada already imported, you can go to the states with mexican plates no problem, you can buy insurance for one day or a year for the states. My 2 cents.

Everybody in North America has cheaper plates than CA. Get them in Mexico and save.

We purchased all our insurance for our home and car in Punta Estero from a woman who operates her business several days a week in Punta Banda on the main road to La Bufadora. She is very knowledgeable and has affordable rates. If interested I can email you the info/name etc.

Hi Yes I know the place, email would be useful if you could.

I am thinking more of the Peninsular area, up on top of the hills. I can drive to the beach when I want.
