Dirt Sports is perhaps the only non-Baja-related magazine devoted to Baja! I've collected my 2 copies of issues 1 and 2, and I have subscribed ever since. "Desert Bull"-Tim Sanchez writes and shoots photos for this magazine, and ever since loaning me his trailer when my truck died on the Observatory Road, I'm endebted to supporting him and his projects for eternity. Great magazine full of quality and sincerity from cover to cover.

Thanks for the nice words Ken...much appreciated!

DIRTsports is a great magazine that has been a project of Jim Ryan's for many years while he was at Primedia. When he left there to chase his dream of DIRTsports, I had the opportunity to work with Jim, who has long been heralded the top publisher/editor in the truck & off-road world for 25 years.

The magazine group has a huge staff of very creative people that make this all happen and its the only off-road magazine dedicated to competitive off-road events, SCORE, BITD, CORR & UROC along with all the others.

The first year of DIRTsports isn't even complete yet and its been quite a success.

To make matters even better, the company that owns DIRTsports - Advanstar Communications recently purchased Off-Road.com in a deal that I introduced the two principles on and after six months of the legal stuff - Advanstar Comm announced a couple weeks ago the purchase of Off-Road.com.

Baja Blackie and a small crew started Off-Road.com some 10 years ago and put together a staff of devoted off-road writers/photographers and Baja adventurers who made ORC the largest off-road motorsports website on the net and in all of motorsports only second to NASCAR.com.

My company has a decent part in the DIRTsports Magazine thing as we travel throughout the United States toting my 05 Dodge Ram & 40' race hauler from event-to-event promoting DIRTsports, Off-Road Retailer and Advanstar's Power Sports Group.

We maintain the exclusive contract to provide the Off-Road.com live event coverage for SCORE & UROC Pro-National rockcrawling...so nonetheless we are in the thick of it and having fun doing it. My 20-year old daughter Brittany runs the entire operation from A to Z...

If you see us make sure you stop by for a free copy of the magazine...

We are pulling out for Ensenada thi s Wednesday morning for the first of many trips south in the next 3 weeks...stop by at the Baja 500 contingency!

It's about time you saw it...been that way for about a month or so...:O:lol:

Tim - if you drive - who will cover?

capt. mike - 5-17-2005 at 12:22 PM

will there still be real time updates at off-road dot com?

guess Baja Britt and Frijolero get the duty?

thekookbuster - 5-19-2005 at 10:46 AM

Yeah Tim, if you are racing how will we all get the live updates on ORC?

Capt. Mike...

Britt has been doing all the rock crawling and desert race coverage since Jan 04...you saw me working at the finish line in La Paz because she told me that if I wanted to go to La Paz for the race she was putting me to work...

She's managing a crew of 4 that will handle our contract with Advanstar for ORC's stuff at the Baja 500...the crew is our normal crew that works the rockcrawls and other live events

Apparently, you've never visited www.desertbullracing.com to see that Frijolero is the primary co-driver at Desertbull Racing - therefore it may be a bit hard for him to pull double duty...he's one bad-azz co-driver and knows WTF is going on when we are fourth gear in the silt..and I'm yelling where they hell are we....

Frijolero is the man in the right seat...couldn't have won TT250 without him and his skills!

Maybe we'll throw you (Capt. Mike) in the right seat at the 1000...for a cool 250 miles of hell:?:

Later...we're off to pre-run for the next 4 days...
