Planning a trip around la Guarda and have read Walt Peterson's report (Baja Adventure Book). Are there other resources I should check out? Anyone
tried it? Is there a good cruising/sailing board I could post this on?
Thanks
You could post on.......

.........cruisecortez.com.
I would also recommend the jack Williams Book that has aerials of most of the anchorages.

Gerry Cunningham and Jack Williams have the top guide books. You should get both. Not many anchorages on the East side of the island.
On www.trailersailor.com there is a forum for the Sea of Cortez. The most active boating forum I have seen. Lot's of people out of San Carlos,
Sonora.
You need a decent boat for this that can handle some rough water. You need to pick you time of year carefully. Need to get a tide chart and
understand the direction of the tide and it's relationship to the wind.
I've been down the West side of the island twice, with San Felipe as the starting point.
Go for it!

Get "Cruising Guide to the Middle Gulf" by Gerry Cunningham and the Capt. Johns Rains book ?Mexcio Boating Guide?.
I have done it twice, in a 20?Seacraft and a 26?Blackman. Great cruise, lots of nice spots to fish, dive, shell collect etc.
Take lots of fuel and water!

Been there done that - great fun - bring LOTS of bug spray - no-see-ums will eat you alive - if you can sleep on your boat - all the better - diving
and fishing was great in late july and august - we saw schools of cabrilla in the 15-20 pound range - and at refugio, grouper so big it scared some of
our group out of the water! looking forward to your trip report!
