Fishing Chivato Area During Full Moon

BajaHawk - 5-22-2005 at 10:28 PM

I will be in Chivato in June during the full moon. Anyone have an opinion on what the full moon does to fishing?

Thanks!

Great post Pompano. You should think about writing a book. There are things that need to be passed on. Hell, I'd buy it.

Damn, Pompano, wish I had known that about 30 years ago, would have come in real handy.

" Look at the moon the night before, if it will hold water, go fishing...if it cannot hold water, stay home and fix the nets."

So... a moon that will hold water must be a crescent moon... like, in the first and last quarter? Is that what he meant?

Whaddya think?

we would wait for a full moon to go camp on the shore overnight in So. Cal. I would have good luck catching Calicos (big) regularly. Using squid we occasionally would pull in a bug or two. Do they sell those casting rigs with the mulitple slip-knots(nooses) in Baja. They use em here for Dungeness Crab.

fishin can be great at night!!!!!!!!!
Just find yourself a nice section of beach,if its in front of camp so much the better.
If its high or incoming tide better yet, depth of the water is not as important at night.
Get a few poppers 4" or 5" long, dark patterns work best,if you can find an area with rock and sand better yet.
Be careful around rock because the guys who live there can relieve you of a popper or two.
If you haven,t used these before just remember your trying to make a racket on top, to get their attention, cast it out there, let it sit for a secound, now pop it hard, let sit,now pop pop pop wham!!!:o change the cadence, faster, slower find the speed they want.
Corvina on a full moon, nice sandy beach, warm water,it doesn,t get much better, remember bigger fish will move in closer on a full moon, well I guess that covers that.

What about day time beach fishing on the east cape near leonero? What should I use for gear and lures right now, any suggestions?
