Because it cost more to operate a business in the central desert, and there are no banks or armored car service theft/robbery is a high risk,
employees are a rare find, the socialized gasoline distribution (same price everywhere) that doesn't permit the potential franchiser to raise the
price and make the same profit as a city run Pemex... all make it difficult to operate a gas station out there... San Agustin, Catavina, L.A. Bay Jcn.
(Parador Punta Prieta) all failed... I also know they were ejido operated, and poor business practice (spending all the gross sales, and not paying
for future gas deliveries) ended them.
Please support people like Alfonso in Catavina who sells gas when Pemex is closed... He makes a gross profit of only $1/gallon and drives over 150
miles to get more gas and bring it there, for those who need it. |
