El Chinero Chokepoint

Heading North from San Felipe today, I reached the El Chinero Checkpoint at 1230 pm. There was a backup of about 12 vehicles and they had three lanes working cars. EVERY vehicle stopped was emptied of passengers and searched with gusto, even crawling underneath and poking about under the hood with their little steel rod. It took 25 minutes for it to be my turn. I got off a little easier. They didn't make my wife or dogs get out. They also didn't crawl underneath or probe at my radiator hoses with their poker. Maybe I look old and harmless.

One driver got the Dumb Butt award for that hour. He had a Toyota Tundra with a Quad in the back, but they had everything opened up and poked about his vehicle for almost as long as we were there. Wonder what he said to them ??

This intense enthusiasm at the checkpoint doesn't occur very often, luckily. The last three times I was simply waved through.
