I need get away from my kids! I need get away from Southern California! I need escape from my pretentious neighbors! I need some space from everything
that keeps me from the wife who I never see much these days between ball games and Sea World!
I want it to be a good roader, a good washboarder and a truck to sleep and live in. Thinking of a Lexas LX 470/land Cruiser FJZ100 (when I find an old
one I can afford). What do you experienced guys think of that?

As long as the vehicle gets you where you need to go, you have a sturdy (newer) spare tire, tires with a good sidewall that you're not afraid to air
down when you hit the washboard, has a good rear limited slip or factory locking differential, working a/c, etc.
Generally, Toyotas earn high marks among the ppl on this board, and you can't go wrong with one. I own a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and that is my Baja
vehicle of choice. Now, if I could only afford the $5K for the full 4-link Fabtech coil-over suspension, then, my Jeep would eat anything for
lunch!MH_Stevens - 10-25-2005 at 07:57 PM
UPDATE: I got a 97 Land Cruiser, last year of the 80 series. Could not be more happy - this is a wonderful wagon. Such build quality and capability.
Took her to Baja for first time last weekend.David K - 10-25-2005 at 08:10 PM

In Joshua Tree earlier this month, we had an early '90s model Land Cruiser with a diesel engine, 2" Old Man Emu suspension, and LT285 tires attend the
run. His vehicle was amazing in all of the things it could do - in relative luxury as well. A very amazing vehicle.Ken Cooke - 10-26-2005 at 08:03 PM
