How Hot is it?

White Angel - 6-14-2005 at 01:15 PM

We've just suffered thru a wicked little heat wave here in the Boston area. Saturday was close to 100 degrees and humidity in the 90% range. It felt like equitorial Africa rather than New England! It got me thinking about Baja and how beautiful the weather there was in early April. How hot is it now in Gonzaga? By comparison; San Quintin and maybe Mulege? When does the worst of the heat set in? Thanks!

pokey - 6-14-2005 at 01:26 PM

Hahaha My sister lives lives in Sudbury MA. 72 in Ensenada right now at 1:25 pm. Without a doubt some of the finest weather on the planet :D

Nice!

El Camote - 6-14-2005 at 01:42 PM

San Felipe seems to be having a cooler than usual June and Gonzaga Bay may be a degree or two cooler!

Lou, meme, how's the temps inland?

Not to rub it in, but we're freezing up here in Santa Barbara with the June gloom, marine layer crap so I'm headed down to San Felipe next week to defrost! :bounce:

I remember that east coast humidity could make a duck sweat. Hope it cools soon.

bajalou - 6-14-2005 at 02:32 PM

97 on my patio right now 2:30pm. bit of a breeze blowing - a little humid but not too bad at all. Cools off enough at night for me to sleep and want a little cover about 4am. Great weather Mike, come on down. If it's next week, I'll miss you as I have to go to that freezing city of Barstow Ca later this week for about 3 weeks.

meme - 6-14-2005 at 02:55 PM

Mike, It is presently 2;50 p.m. and 100 degrees on my patio! 95 at my desk! Nice breeze but it's a warm breeze!! Yes, sleeping at nite with the fan on but need a slight cover early a.m. But by wake up time it's warming up again! It's not all that bad tho! we are still planning to stay until at least the end of the month.:D

Eli - 6-14-2005 at 03:22 PM

Ay que error; I get reports from home in Los Barriles that t has been the coolest June ever, while here in Oaxaca it has been nothing but hot here for the last two weeks.

I broke down Sunday and went to the Movies, a.c., ahhhhhhhhhhh, and what fun on a big screen with surround sound.

Then I went next door to Soriana and wandered for a while before I bought a fan. Lots of folks mulling around checking out the options, that the particular section of the store was pretty popular. First time in my life I assembled a fan. What is that saying about necessity being the Mother of Invention?

Bruce R Leech - 6-15-2005 at 07:01 AM

it has been cooler than usual in Mulege so far this year we are really enjoying it. about 70 in the mornings and 82 to 85 in the afternoon. the humidity has been lower also. I'm wish it would stay this way but I think our time is about to wear out.

Wasn't that snow in San Felipe last week?

yankeeirishman - 6-15-2005 at 07:36 AM

It's been cooler it seems on the most part of the Pacific West. Sacramento has been very cool. Looking at the history on San Felipe...it there seems to be cooler than the norm. Are the water temps down or up to the norms?

bajalou - 6-15-2005 at 07:40 AM

83 deg on my patio at 7am today. Just about perfect!!! And by my recolection it was a warmer winter and a cooler spring/summer than most so far. And the grilled chicken special at Pete's Camp last night was also about perfect!

You know what Lou.....I've never been in Pete' dinning room! On a 1 to 10............what you give the place?

meme - 6-15-2005 at 08:07 AM

I don't know about Lou , but I would give it about a 7/8. Food usually not bad but service usually awful in the diningroom. They like to take your order, get you served and they are then done!!! Rarely come back to see if you want anything else?? Especially more drinks! You can never get drunk unless you are sitting at the bar or order your drinks from the bar & get them yourself! They could care less! We used to go there at least once a week. Now about 2 maybe 3 times a year.

That was my experience as well!

The kids and I went in for lunch a couple years ago, and the exact same thing happened!

bajalou - 6-15-2005 at 08:53 AM

Well, I'm not one to want much from the bar anyway so don't notice that part. Now the bar's outside under the palapa. Last night only one other table in use in the resturant. I thought service was OK, at least as good as most places down here - I really don't want a waiter hovering over me all the time. The meal - soup, salad, 2 chicken breasts grilled with lime?, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, the sherbet for desert - all for $6 US. Guess I'd rate it 8-9?

:saint:

you're kidding

Crapola...I was gonna come down but I guess I was looking at Sta Rosalias weather and it's considerably warmer there.

White Angel - 6-15-2005 at 12:18 PM

Instant Relief- Amigos; New England has had one of it's famous "wait a minute" changes. We dropped about 40 degrees in four hours yesterday!. It's now cloudy and about 50 degrees with a raw wind. Cold and rain expected for the next few days. Maybe at some point soon we will get a few Chamber of Commerce days in the 70's before summer sets in!! Wish I were in Baja.....

bajajudy - 6-15-2005 at 02:16 PM

64 on my porch this morning when I woke up.
80 right now....3:15

backninedan - 6-15-2005 at 02:26 PM

88 under my palapa, with a nice breeze blowing, humidity is up just a bit today. Its been a fantastic early summer.

meme - 6-15-2005 at 03:25 PM

It is now 92 degrees at my desk --100 on my patio! Humidity a bit high today too I think. At 3:20 p.m.
No I know you are not a bar person Lou nor do I like a waiter that hovers but, one that asks if you would like anything else is often very nice. It seldom happens at Pete's Camp once they have brought you( A )drink & food is served!

it is always wormer in Santa Rosalia except in the winter then it is colder.

bajalera - 6-15-2005 at 06:31 PM

Thermometers often make me feel either hotter or colder than I care to, and not having one really simplifies things.

A summer day in La Paz, for example, is either too hot, too damn hot, or not quite as hot as usual. To me, those are all bearable conditions, while 103 would not be.

Rosarito on the Baja Pacific north coast

Gypsy Jan - 6-15-2005 at 07:36 PM

Gloomy overcast, rained some, cold wind in the morning, temperature about 69 degrees Fahrenheit (sp).

There have been more overcast days than sunny ones since the rains of winter, but as you can see, the temps are mild.

On the beach temps are very different from what you find when you go a bit inland, it tends to clear/warm up very quickly after sunrise, 80-to-90+ degree temps are common this time of year.

bajalou - 6-15-2005 at 08:20 PM

Gypsy Jan, that doesn't sound mild to me, downright cold.

if you were from high in the mountains of colorado, and never experience temps over 70's where would you head in baja for the next month on a trip if you didn't want to experience the 110 temps of san felipe again?

Anonymous - 6-20-2005 at 06:24 AM

94 in Denver on Sunday 6 19. I was pushing my m/c thru snow drifts on Rollins pass. There is a lot of snow over 10,200 feet.

Summertime

MrBillM - 6-21-2005 at 06:13 PM

Summer has arrived with a rush. Until today, each a.m. in Percebu was in the high 60s with the daily temp topping out at 87 or so.

This a.m. (first day of Summer), it was 76 at 0515, 87 at 0900 and topped out at 92. Hot and Sweaty (humidity 65 - 75), but the upside is there aren't many people around.

dono - 6-24-2005 at 04:31 PM

the cold snap we have been having just snapped, it was 105* at 2 pm in La Paz today 95* in Los Barriles, summer finally showed up.
