Dish Network ???

Anonymous - 6-19-2005 at 04:24 PM

Since changing out my "Legal" receivers in the U.S. and Baja from the BLUE Smartcards to the new YELLOW cards, I have found that when I have powered down the receiver for a few days or more, it sometimes takes hours to reaquire the programming. In some cases, it doesn't reaquire at all until a call to Dish Network support results in a reset signal being sent down.

Has anyone else experienced this phenomenom ?

This applies only to the LEGAL units. My Mexico-modified unit works OK.

Annon,

I have DishNetwork in my motor home. I have this problem all the time. I'm told the problem occurs because of 2 things. 1, the box is not connected to a phone line and 2, the unit is not used on a regular basis.

Right now I'm trying to use the unit on a semi regular basis to see if correcting one of the two problems alleviates the need for a "Hit" sent from the satellite to the receiver to "Re-Marry" the card and the box.

If this doesn't correct the problem I'll see about getting one of the pirate boxes. I'm trying to be Honest and Legal but, Dishnetwok is doing their best to alienate me from my principles.

Lost Programming

The problem did not exist (for me) until the changeover from the Blue Smartcards to the Yellow. I had one receiver that I kept in a closet as a spare that didn't get used for almost a year and it booted up fine within 5 minutes (with the Blue card). The phone line business is BS. Between Baja and the U.S., I've got five recei vers (legal) and only the original has EVER been connected to a phone line. They've all worked fine until the YELLOW PERIL. Dish loves to throw that phone line thing out there because they want a line hooked up to your unit to encourage you to use other services.
