How many of yall have brought a metal detector into Baja ?

I took a metal detector to Baja several years ago. It was kept out of site while going thru Mexican customs. Used it on the beach and nothing said
by anyone.

Why would anyone say anything, or object at the border. Is this a "contraband" item?

Might fall into the 'not a tourist thing' ??? as tourist your only allowed to spend money not profit on anything. But like most things they probably
don't really care anywhere you would use one. Only at the border.
