Dave - 6-24-2005 at 11:33 AM

Try Taqueria 2000. Across the street from the phone company. Exactly the same as Yaqui and cheaper.

And,

jrbaja - 6-24-2005 at 11:46 AM

the little stand just north of Las Ma?anitas restaurant. They use frijoles Bruce! I think they copied Yaqui's and it payed off.

elgatoloco - 6-25-2005 at 07:53 PM

Yaqui. Still the best.

bajabum - 6-28-2005 at 01:21 PM

My favorite place is "El Pique" by the govt housing project between Ensenada and Maneadero. Best Adovada Tacos on the planet! Tortas aint so bad either!

Yaqui isnt pronounced yucky is it :O I will have to try the place...zactly where is it?

elgatoloco - 6-28-2005 at 05:35 PM

Directions to the phone company???

bajaandy - 11-16-2005 at 01:01 PM

I'm with bajabum... El Pique is my favorite. Right across the street from the Ford Dealership on your way out of Ensenada.

Is El Pique next door to Cisco tile? k

Turn west at Waldo Mart. 1/4 block on your right.

bajaandy - 11-17-2005 at 12:45 PM

Keri,

Can't remember the name of the tile shop, but there is indeed one in the building next door to tacos El Pique.

Bob H - 12-14-2005 at 03:29 PM

I should not have gone back to this thread - now I need a taco fix badly! :fire:

David K - 12-14-2005 at 05:45 PM

Bob, went to El Yaqui last Sunday... ordered 3 perrones (22 pesos ea.)... They will be closed for the holidays...

Dave - 12-14-2005 at 06:15 PM

Several weeks ago Yaqui's owner was kidnapped. Haven't heard more about it. Wonder if the family paid the ransom?

Did the tacos taste the same? ;D

David K - 12-14-2005 at 06:22 PM

Oh my!!!

In fact, they were not quite as yummy and were out of radishes...

I hope all is well...

Phil C - 12-14-2005 at 06:27 PM

Yeah, I was going to mention that but forgot. Turn right (East) at Waldo Mart and look North. It's right off the main drag.

Had a couple of tacos with Se?or Yaqui yesterday. He was not kidnapped. He chatted about his plans to add a second story patio with table service.

Update on Tacqueria 2000, Rosarito

Gypsy Jan - 12-21-2005 at 05:53 PM

Paid the Telnor bill today in town.

Tacqueria 2000 is gone, gone, gone.

The sign is still there and nothing else, except gravel.

Jan, look up-(top of page), they moved.

How far east of Waldo's?

Gypsy Jan - 12-21-2005 at 07:52 PM

I read the earlier post and looked east from the intersection - didn't see any indicaters of the location.

I have gone east from that corner before, trying to turn around to go south, and the return is a (-b*****- *oops, overstrike*), difficult.

I guess the question is, is the chow worth the hassle to travel off the main boulevard and the maneuvers required for the return?

Dave - 12-21-2005 at 08:56 PM

About 30 feet east of the corner.

OK, Dave

Gypsy Jan - 12-21-2005 at 09:18 PM

Thanks.

I guess that the implied message that it is worth the journey.

My sincere good wishes; Happy Holidays to you and your significant others.

wilderone - 12-22-2005 at 03:02 PM

You will not be disappointed if you stop in El Sauzal at El Trailero taco stand. THE. BEST. Al Pastor and fish. Tables, and there's even a bathroom.

elgatoloco - 12-22-2005 at 04:59 PM

yummy!

Mystery Solved

The Gull - 1-27-2006 at 05:03 PM

Taqueria 2000 has moved, but it is not very close to Waldo's. It is about 3 blocks north of it at the next intersection stop light on Calle Ensenada. It is a few hundred feet back from the main drag. The taco stand on the corner is Tacos Flacos, turn east.

If you are coming on the Cuota, turn to Rosarito Beach where you see the fake cows (statues) advertising milk. That is the street on which Taqueria 2000 faces.

Over Xmas, it was open when Yaquis was not.
