Coco Cabanas in Loreto?

Arthur - 6-25-2005 at 07:19 AM

We're going to be in Loreto for a few days in mid-July, and were planning to stay at the Hotel Junipero -- that's the one on the main street, opposite a hardware store and a big, fancy hotel, right?

Anyway, I've seen a lot of positive reviews of the Coco Cabanas, which sound like a pretty good deal -- just a bit more expensive at $50 -- and they have kitchenettes. The only bad thing people have to say about them is that you get a lot of barking and crowing, etc, starting at 3 am. Has anybody got an opinion on this place?

Can't speak about the lodgings as I always stay in my RV but I can say that anywhere in town you'll have the barking and crowing.

The dogs normally quiet down around 10-11 pm but the roosters are something else! They are on their own clock and may start crowing at any time and carry on for hours.

But I've never had a problem adapting to them and getting a good nights sleep.

You wont be dissapointed with Coco Cabanas.. barks, bleats, oinks and crowing?? sounds like Loreto to me.

Ear plugs! Don't leave home without them!

I never do -- but thanks.

Coco Cabanas is a very nice place with a/c and a pool. I dont think that you will regret paying a little bit more for those two luxuries in Loreto in July.
If roosters crowing and dogs barking bother you, you may be going to the wrong place for vacation. Think of them as nocturnal sounds instead of an annoyance.
I am sure that you will have a blast.
Say HI to Vicente for me(the bar on the malecon)

I don't like a/c and have always managed, even if July, in Loreto with a fan...but, I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere that time of year that didn't have a pool.

Thanks. I didn't say I had anything in particular against barnyard noises. I know Loreto and like it. I was just saying that was the only thing anyone had to say against the place.

Cocos and the owner are something special in Loreto, and the pool is great. Super clean, comfortable lodgings...great place for Loreto.

Trouble is, no spaces open in mid-july whenwe want to be there. We'll be at the Junipero.

Did you try Las Palmas Altas, they have a pool.

Arthur - 6-27-2005 at 10:12 AM

Good idea; I'll file it away for next time. Actually. this was going to be a quick trip to check out property, but getting plane reservations at this short notice turned out to be too expensive, especially for a short stay, so we're going to hop a cheap flight to Las Vegas and camp in the Mojave for a few days. It'll feel kind of like Baja -- but I'll miss the Spanish.
