We're in the States looking for a DVD player that will play DVD's from Region 1 (USA) and Region 4 (Mexico and Australia and South America, etc).
None of the people in any of the stores in our area have a clue what we're talking about or, if they do, have no idea if any of their players are
multi-region compatible. I've searched the internet a little and found some that had been modified but they tended to be a little pricey. Anyone
know of any brands that would work for us in both our worlds? And, by the way, we need JPEG capabilities so we can look at our Baja digital photos on
our tv! It has been suggested that we buy one in Baja because many of the players there have already been modified, but we were hoping to get one
here since we won't be back home down there until October.
Thanks bunches
ps if that "sad" icon is stuck on my post it was a mistake and I couldn't undo it.......................

allot of the ones sold in Mexico work in zones 1 and 4 and some in all. why don't you get one here. the way you tell is it is printed on the outside
of the box. all of the people that sell them here in Baja ca. are very aware of this.
If you are going to use it in Mexico why don't you buy it here also?

I use a JVC DVD-VCR combo player. It is has switchable zones and wasnt expensive. The model number is HR-XVC30U

I did not know this!! We were going to bring some discmans for some of the kids around town (seeing as MP3 players are now the rage here). Does
that mean they will not be able to play thier locally bought CD's as well??

If you buy it in Mexico you can get it for less money. most of them are made here anyway. if you buy it in the U.S. you pay duty both ways.

The discman's are used. Is worth bringing them? Will the kids be able to play locally bought cd's?

By dicsman I assume you mean music cd's? I have never heard of regions for those. Maybe someone else can help us with that one! Now I am curious
Marie-Rose - 6-26-2005 at 11:03 AM
Yes...I am talking about music CD's

As far as I know there are no district restrictions on cds. I play cds made in both countries and have never had a problem.

FYI,
The entertainment industry broke up the world into 6 regions to "protect their copyrights". Some DVD's and CD's now have a region or district code
that prevents players from one district to play discs from another district.
You can read more about it at http://hometheaterinfo.com/dvd3.htm
You can also find all kinds of info about it (including software to bypass the region codes) by googling "DVD Regions".
DVD'S

Hose A. Hola. Glad to see everything is progressing nicely with your new life.
yho and I what to do something special for your step daughters graduation. Give me some ideas.
Yeah, the DVD rental/regional thing can be a drag. If they say regions 1 and 4, chances are they won't work on your machine. Period.
CD's do not apply.
thats great
mulege marv - 6-27-2005 at 03:34 AM
i know about the regions, the players, and the disks. what im looking for is where to get a machine without driving back to the states or 6 hrs to la
paz. never mind i will find one.
