Call me stupid if you wish, but I am really too lazy to look up where this place is! JR where is this place?

Left

jrbaja - 7-12-2005 at 05:10 PM

of Ciudad Constitucion in Baja Sur.

David K - 7-12-2005 at 05:14 PM

Left if you are NORTHbound... Right if you are driving south... More correctly, West if you are looking at a map! (Just helping you there JR, as a 'non-resident' Baja author and map maker... :;):

And left

jrbaja - 7-12-2005 at 05:17 PM

if you are looking at a map, as long as you aren't looking at it upside down!

And I believe they're called "cartographers"

jrbaja - 7-12-2005 at 05:50 PM

And if you actually are one David

jrbaja - 7-12-2005 at 05:51 PM

I now understand all the mistakes

jrbaja - 7-12-2005 at 05:53 PM

I have found in the Baja Almanac:lol:

Many of which

jrbaja - 7-12-2005 at 05:59 PM

are in this area. And I'd just as soon keep it that way.:light:

David K - 7-12-2005 at 07:41 PM

No JR I am not a cartographer... that is something I was going to college for until I got sidetracked into irrigation in 1980.

Yes JR, professional map makers are called cartographers...

I make money installing irrigation, drains, landscape lighting, and lawns. I make maps for fun...

I have made quite a list of mistakes on the Baja Almanac (made by the Mexican cartographers) and have tried to get Landon to contact me to make the Almanac better, at no charge to him.

Far from it, in fact my skin is darker than many Mexicans as I work in the sun... if your comment was meant to be racist, as if white was better than other colors? What happened to your use of the word 'human' to descibe nice actions by people?

Like my web site, and posts on Nomad and other places, I do this to help or add to the information travelers to Baja seek, in order to enhance their experience... This helps Mexico and so that is one way I give back to the place I enjoy so much...

I have made quite a list of mistakes on the Baja Almanac

jrbaja - 7-13-2005 at 06:08 PM

How did you do that?

David K - 7-13-2005 at 06:36 PM

Is this a trick question? LOL

I love maps (naturally), so when I see a new map of Baja I scan it to see how close to reality it is.

The Baja Almanac (or the Mexican government topos it gets its maps from) is a fun book/map to look at and see the roads I have driven on or may want to drive on... When it shows a road in the wrong place, misses showing a road that has been there for many years, or misnamed bays, arroyos, etc. from their historic true name, I see that.

Baja Maps and history are my hobbies... you knew that. I travel in Baja to feel and experience the places on the maps.

For example, Mex. 1 between Cafe Sonora and almost to Catavina is shown wrong on the topo/Almanac. They just colored the old main road as 'paved'... the highway is actually 1-2 miles west of the old road in this section...

The road in Valle Chico to Matomi is not totally shown where it has been since I first drove it in 1978...

The road to San Juan de Dios north of Arroyo San Juan de Dios crossing is not shown correctly...

Arroyo el Volcan is mis labled, and the next arroyo south is given it's name...

The twin bays Bahia San Luis Gonzaga and Ensenada de San Francisquito are switched in the Almanac...

The road south of L.A. Bay is incorrect near Las Flores...

The road between Jose Saldana and Cohabuzo Jcn. is not shown, the one that is shown, to the north, is not there...

The road south of Rancho Grande is not shown correctly (it is east of the jcn. of Arroyo Santa Maria and Arroyo Las Arrastras)...

Oh, here's a couple I don't know from personal experience, but from other Nomads: There is no auto. road between San Francisco de la Sierra and Santa Marta as shown... There is no auto. road to Mision los Dolores...

Roberto - 7-13-2005 at 08:05 PM

David, in the interest of fair play, I am going to give you some advice. Don't try to match wits with JR.:lol::lol::lol:

David K - 7-13-2005 at 09:28 PM

You do not need to give me any advice Roberto... Maybe others (who you back up) that love to cause trouble here could benefit from 'some' advice.

Baja Nomad Forums: Peace, Love and Fish Tacos... ? That would be nice if it would be that way here!

David

jrbaja - 7-14-2005 at 08:35 AM

I've been looking through the history and past posts on here. Nothing has changed since Amigos.
You are pretending to know Baja from a few occasional trips, Antonio is the first actual Mexican you have met down here, and you are constantly whining when people tease you about it.
I think a David K board would be in order, don't you?:light:

turtleandtoad - 7-14-2005 at 10:14 AM

I've got an idea, why don't both of you restrict your constant sniping to U2U and let the rest of us enjoy the forum.

Just doing my part

jrbaja - 7-14-2005 at 10:57 AM

to keep the board like it's always been, as per Davids ridiculous Poll!

can't resist

fdt - 7-14-2005 at 01:54 PM

But last I knew I was mexican and David k's friend

That would make

jrbaja - 7-14-2005 at 02:26 PM

all both of you then:lol::lol::lol:

David K - 7-14-2005 at 06:01 PM

Insults again JR?

I have made friends in Mexico since I was kid...

I think you still are!

jrbaja - 7-14-2005 at 06:53 PM

And one of the easiest ofishy's of all the nadas I have ever seen.:lol::lol:

what i cant understand...

eetdrt88 - 7-15-2005 at 10:55 AM

about this thread is why does "roberto" feel the need to chime in and defend "jrbaja" or is "roberto" just another one of jrbaja's AKA's and he's defending himself.....arent we all adults here because some of this behavior reminds me of grade school antics:lol::lol::lol:

And to prove your point,

jrbaja - 7-15-2005 at 11:34 AM

What I don't understand is that unless you are a chicken coop grouper, what you are doing here at all witchyo mature self!

David K - 7-15-2005 at 07:15 PM
