I know several of you Nomads have and enjoy XM radio while traveling etc. You might already know this but XM Online is available free to anyone who
subscribes to XM. I play it on my computer in the house and don't have to bring the portable in from the garage or get the other one from the truck.

There are many radio stations whose websites offer a "Listen Live" stream for free as well. No subsription necessary. 640 KFI, KOST 103.5, and
other L.A. radio stations have Listen Live links. My personal favorite is Jack FM out of Texas, because they play very, very few commercials.
You can search for your favorite radio station online, check out their website and see if they have the Listen Live option.

What does XM require of me as a current member to be able to do this via the internet? Was I issued a number when I joined or will they just have me
on file by name?
Bahiamia- yes many stations have live feeds but you still wade thru all the commercials or the blank spaces where the commercials are blocked. I can
choose a "station" based on my mood....blues, smooth jazz, oldies, etc.
Besides, I could then listen to any major league baseball game I want as I work at my computer.

Yeah I hear what you are saying, but it is nice to be able to listen to the free streams available online and some stations, such as Jack FM play
hardly play any commercials at all. Don't have to spend any additional $$ for equipment, receivers and monthly subscription fees, but that just what
works for me.
I like to listen to some talk shows, sports talk radio, and some tunes. For my music, however, I prefer my CD collection which I customize and update
often using Apple's iTunes. I have a Car Stereo CD player hooked up outside which hardly uses any power since it's 12V and runs right off my battery
bank. I usually have tunes playing all day long when I'm working outside.

I think you just go to XMonline.com? or something like that - I did mine a couple months ago so don't remember quite how it was, but just signed up
with new emaill address and password etc.somehow guess it checks that you are a subscriber - but it's almost all music the online stuff. take a look
tho you might like it.

After going to XM online, putting in a password they will ask you to retrieve your XM Radio number(like a serial number) from your radio. They will
tell you How to find it. You just put that number in and it activates it for you online.

I now remember that each individual receiver has a distinct number. That must be how they do it.
Bahiamia- I remember when the new Jack format was installed in LA at the former Arrow 93.1 FM. This is a Clear Channel or Infinity Radio Group format
that has been installed at several radio stations across the country, not just in Texas. The amount of commercials has changed dramatically over the
last couple months. They have really long commercial breaks in between the music now.

93.1 in L.A. does have alot of commericials and they don't offer an online stream. 100.3 out of Dallas does, and they dont' play nearly as many
commercials; hardly any.
But I don't mind the commercials on the other stations online. I especially enjoy listening to the traffic reports! Seeing as the nearest traffic
light to me is about a 5 hour drive from here I kind of get a kick out of it.
Before we had satellite Internet, the only other option for me was radio, but the A.M. signal is strongest in the evening/night hours because of the
skip. During the day, I was out of luck. BUMMER. So I am just thrilled to have online streams of most of my favorite stations available out there
to listen to loud and clear day or night. The commercials are a small trade off at least for me.

Just read your post and I got my radio ID by going to chanel 0 and filled in the format. XM is the greatest, I had all my favorite music all the way
down to La Paz last easter, and now Mrs. ferna is unsubscribing from realrapsody.

I do like the mix of the Jack format. I heard Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin' On" on it last night. That surprised me....a pleasant surprise!
If XM had an actual Motown only channel, I would be all over that...

it is out of Stockholm and they have many other musical choices
