egrpoet - 7-20-2005 at 08:19 AM

Hello everyone, it?s my first post here so be nice to me ok? Heheh. I?m thinking of purchasing some land in the Valle Guadalupe area and build me a little ranch for some R&R . Question is?.Valle Guadalupe the best in the Ensenada area? Or further south? (I?m talking inland)
By the way I think this board is GREAT!!!!;D:yes:

Welcome egrpoet to the Nomads forum

I think the farther south you get the Better. I have a 60 acre ranch here in Mulege and I love it here. But it is a mater of choice on your part as to where you want to be.

Great place here, Yes! Do me a favor..keep us posted on your hunt for the ranch land you seek. Prices, pics, what you see....I am interested in that area (abit further away) also. Welcome, and good luck with your search.

I don't think there will be that much on the market, so each property needs to be weighed as to its attributes and your intentions: soil composition, grade, surrounding topography, roads, utilities, mature trees, water, neighbors, land use by neighbors, proximity to building supplies, proximity to medical care, proximity to coast if that interests you, travel time from your US home. If it's ejido land, be sure you get proper ownership rights. Take a drive to the Meling and Johnson ranches and check out their operation. I'm sure Dwayne can give you plenty of advice. Personally, I think Valle Guadalupe is a great place for a ranch - a complete getaway while still being close to large cities.

IMO, Guadalupe is not the place for a ranch. The place is being turned into a Napa clone and property values are now out of sight. Plus, water is a BIG problem.

If you want I could steer you toward some property in Valle Trinidad. Up to 5000 hectares, 1500 of which can be purchased fee simple as this property is outside the restricted zone. The ONLY such property in Baja.

On my way to San Felipe a few weeks back I did noticed Valle Trinidad, looks great but a bit to far from the border. One of the reasons I want something in the Ensenada general area is to make it easy for my kids and friends to enjoy my place as much as possible.
