Just got back from the Tucson area where I shot a project which will require music over the opening montage. I'll be including lotsa desert scenery
footage in the montage. Client requested some type of guitar music to fit the locale. I'm thinking an instrumental Spanish guitar(s).
Pregunta: Can anyone suggest a performer, group or particular piece that might fit these parameters? Want something highly emotive and dramatic to
fit the desert scenery and theme of the piece.
When the voices in my head shut-up, I can almost hear the type of music I need but have no clue as to where to look.

On an unrelated note, sure did see (and taste)a lot of ripe pitahaya fruit. Is the growing season in so. Ariz. much earlier than Bajas?

Do a google search for composer/artist. You'll probably find MP3's or Midi of all these composers.

An acoustic version of Europa by Carlos Santana. I'll look for one. The electric one is fantastic, but it may be too overpowering depending on the
feel you're looking for.
It's not spanish, but most anything by Nakai. I believe he is Navajo. I was listening to him on a star filled clear night in Catavina, and it sent
shivers down my spine.
Sort of a needle in a haystack, but if you want something more powerful, try Enya, something without too much celt in it.
Don't forget cuban instrumentals. Far more complex than spanish or mexican.

If it has to be guitar, Andres Segovia leaps to mind. But, among living artists, there are no equals to the Romero family. For cruising Baja, I
particularly like Pepe Romero's rendition of Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez.
But, if you want to be Arizona-specific, I'd second the Sculpin re: R. Carlos Nakai's Navajo flute, particularly his Canyon Trilogy.
Then again, if you want a more modern, full-orchestral background sound with the feel of driving across a vast open desert toward a bustling city
looming on the horizon, get an earful of Gil Evans' Las Vegas Tango.

Try a band called THE BREW out of Austin, Tx. It's traditional acoustic guitar, but with a modern sound.

Lo'Jo, "Au Caberet Sauvage" ....also, Tiariwen, "The Radio Tisdas Sessions"...truly great music of the deserts and also of strife...Tiariwen is
