The sale of La Playa Santispac on Bahia Concepcion's north end is off says Ray and Paco.
Who's Ray? Ray has a restaurant at Santispac beach. He told me Saturday night that he has been told offically by the powers-to-be that, as studies of the cost to bring water and power begin coming in, the whole deal is dead. And who's Paco? Paco is the beach manager at La Playa Posada, just a click south of Santispac. Paco knows several of the 250 people that share Santispac ownership. From them he says the deal is as dead as a warm beer in August.
That's all the rumor that's fit to print. :smug:

All Bull....
look at the Fonatur website and you know better.
Baja will be developed from North to South and even on the Pacific side.
Fonatur has plans to develop more than 10 new marinas along the Sea of Cortez side of baja.
With 3 major marinas on the Pacific side and big truck hauling for any kind of boat to the East side.
To prevend folks from sail around Lands End.
JR can wimp as long as he wants, he can not stop developments Fonatur is planning.
Santispac is a done deal and will be developed in the near future.
Or why do you think Mex 1 is resurfaced from Santa Rosalia to Santispac?

The Santispac deal is 'said to be cooling off.. for now anyway'. That is the 'hearsay' on the coconut telegraph. You must take that rumor for what it is worth. All I would add is the old adage...'Build it, and they will come.'

p.s. BTW... I chose to remain anonymous for replying on this 'fiesty' board. From what I have read, there are certain posting themes that resemble a kindergarden class on steroids... the pettiness and self-importance of these 'certain posts' would bore most serious people persueing an interest in Baja by scanning this board. As anyone who has been here long enough knows, the actual Baja lifestyle and culture is light-years away from these narrow situations. I equate reading their postings to scanning the Sunday comics...a casual, light deversion..quickly forgotten. However, I am an eternal optimist and am waiting for the cream to rise again. Where are you, cream? Now I will get off the soapbox and go back to life in Baja...which ain't bad!

All the Escalera Nautica signs to Sta Rosalallita have been removed from Mex. 1. The Escalera Nautica project was dependent on private investment, which FONATUR has no control over, and the money has not come in. Fox has deliberately scaled down the project and news reports of this fact is old news now.

I wouldn't want to see anyone hurt but Baja needs a few more eco-t errorist

You blowhard developers can whine all you want but until Mexico learns what responsible developement is and enforces it , Baja is the place it least makes sense.

Large developement is not sustainable or practical in most of Baja. It will happen and only to the detriment of the land and the majority of the population.

Those of you who have some experience and knowledge of Mexico should remember the various and partially built Projects all over Mexico!
Second: you should look into the Past efforts of Fonatur in the Baja Area, Purto Escondido, Nopllo, Former Presidente Hotel etc.

Before investing into any of these Projects or talking as if you know all about them do a little Investigative Work starting off with the Past History of Water!!!!!

I would venture to say that none of you have done a background on the 7 Year Drought that occurred from1969 to 1976.
Facts; A good number of Loreto People would go each day to a Water line at Purto Escondido for Drinking Water .
The Area Ranchers led by Senor Davis hired a Texas Airplane Driver to spread Silver Nitrate in the Clouds. Many Cattle and goats died from starvation and lack of water before the Rains finally came.

Third: A German company was in the process of building a DeSalt Plant at Los Bocanas on the Pacific Side. What happened? Politics?

Do any of you know what happens when the Heavy Rains or Hurricane hits those Mountains above Mulege/Loreto/ El osario? Roads will be closed at least a Month!

I guess What I am trying to get across is that Fonatur, the Developers are only interested in Making Money. The buyers are interested in buying a piece of paradise, but No One, No One knows Where is the Water for the future".

We can all Guess as most Posters are doing. So the bst thing to do if you are serious in spending Money to get information,Hire Me; \Baja Sur Investigative Service for a Report;
