Woody,
Yes, that picture was taken at the top of the gnarly dirt track just a few hundred yards from the location of the circles. You'll have to walk from
here to the circles. Two ways to get to the track: Take the beach and then cross the cobbles at the rivermouth of the large estuary in the foreground,
or take the road east around the estuary. You can't tell from this picture, but our camp was just inside the point in the background at the extreme
far end of the beach.
Let me know what days you plan to go. Maybe I'll try to swing down there for an extended weekend.Natalie Ann - 8-16-2005 at 10:05 AM

Natalie Ann,
I am certainly no expert, so take what I say with a LARGE grain of salt.
A couple of years ago I was camped out along the "coast that shall not be named" (have to get permission from the Sacred Society of the Secret Spots
to tell you) and while on a day hike came upon a series of large stone circles, about 15' in diameter. They were obviously very old, and had decayed
over time. Now I have heard that indigenous peoples would make stone circles as a means of protection from the elements, so I naturally assumed
these to be that type of structure. The location and remoteness of these particular circles lead me to believe that they are not of any recent
construction. (No roads lead to them, and it's a bit of a walk from the closest road to get to the circles.)
Anyway, that's my take on the whole thing. I'm sure there are more learned people on this board who can correct me and give you the real scoop from a
more professional point of view. Personally, I hope someone does jump in here and enlighten us all.Natalie Ann - 8-16-2005 at 06:53 PM
How interesting. So Andy - or anyone else - did you sleep inside the circle(s) and if so, did it feel any different from sleeping elsewhere? I'm not
kidding here, I'd really like to know about this.
Sound Amplifying Rock Circles!
David K - 8-16-2005 at 07:16 PM
One of the first special web pages I made for Baja amigos was M's (Michelle's) El Tomatal Mystery (Baja's E.T.)
I have more photos and details of these energy robbing, sound amplifying rock circles.
This was the only surviving photo of the rocks as M's van mysteriously exploded into flames (while she was inside sleeping), and burned most of her
film.
The web page is on my site in the 'Contributed Photos' section, near the bottom of my home page.
Here is the direct link to "El Tomatal, Baja's ET" http://vivabaja.com/etbajaandy - 8-16-2005 at 08:16 PM
Natalie Ann,
What an interesting concept! No, I did not sleep in them (camp was elsewhere) but now I am intrigued to do so. I have to admit however, that I don't
really expect to have any kind of spritualy enlightening experience. But next time I get down that way, I may just have to try it.
David, I do have to admit to letting a fleeting thought enter my mind about aliens from outer space, but then I figured why in the H#ll would they do
anything in Baja! Unless they were lost!
Untill someone sets me straight, I'm sticking with the sleeping circle idea. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!David K - 8-17-2005 at 07:37 AM
LOL... Come on Aliens think Baja is way-cool, just like we do!
I listened to both Michelle and her travel companion seperately explain what happened to them both at El Tomatal... it was pretty weird alright! Her
travel companion was someone we all know about and has written books on Baja, too... ie. also a respectable person, like M.
If you haven't read the ET webpage yet: when standing in the rock circle with a center stone, your voice amplified three times normal... an animal
sacrifice was apparently performed, but the organs remained fresh... nobody else was seen for miles to have placed the heart, liver, etc. there. New
car batteries go dead there too, so be carefull!

Well, Andy, given I don't know where they are - and I do respect the secret keeping - I shall have to rely on your experience with the rocks.
I don't expect anything, but will be interested to hear of your experience.

a cardonhugger is restless:
hey bro-
for lack of a better (or more appropriate) monicker, you should just count your memories, cuz they are a thing of the past...
it is too bad your world shrinks every winter, what with all of my kind invading your space- i hope to NEVER occupy the same spot as you, only because
it will degrade my experience...
keep lurking, trolling, and U2U'ing, but if i ever meet you face to face, stand up for your **** self (not that there is anything wrong with that!)
and try to make your case that because you have been coming to that spot for "X" years, you should be the only one allowed.

First, You are far off base in more ways than being paranoid about me U2Uing U. I've never sent you word one directly!
But while on the subject, Woodrow, you're the one I see complaining about conditions at the 'Bay after your last trip. And now you're going to start
another countdown to your big adventure. Sounds like there might be other "Saints" that are peeed off also about your photos viewed by a thousand+.
Maybe you and your buddies ought to U2U your plans and pictures and keep adventure special to others seeking wilderness.
Name-calling and Hair-pulling don't impress me much.(Especially when it's misdirected) You're the one compromising your own experience, and you're a
surfer??? Shhhhhhh.........Go......enjoy.....Leave No Trace......it will be there the next time. Don't worry about your experience being compromised
by me. My brother and I have never pulled up on another camp and would hope others would extend the same courtesy.
