Yes..very interesting, like what was reported to be happening in Sta. Rosalia, Mulege, Loreto and who knows where else a while back..but that was not kidnapping, just burglaries. Wonder if all the investigation is over yet? Anyone heard anything?

Eight Ensenada police officers and a state policeman have been arrested on suspicion of operating a kidnapping ring in the tourist town 45 miles south of the California border, state officials announced Monday.

The Baja California state government said the ring appeared to be linked to the Arellano F?lix drug gang, and they said it was involved in at least three recent kidnappings, one of which ended with the slaying of a captive.

State and federal authorities helped arrest the 11 suspects on Saturday and Sunday.

When one was jokingly ask if there were any job openings on the force there was no reply or smile.

TIJUANA ? Nine law enforcement officials in Ensenada, including an assistant director of the city's police force, were arrested last weekend for suspected involvement in a series of kidnappings and killings in the port city.

Some of the suspects have been linked to the region's major drug group, the Arellano F?lix cartel, according to a news release from the Baja California state attorney general's office.

The nine officials and two civilians were flown to Mexico City, where federal authorities with Mexico's organized crime unit have taken over the case. State authorities said the arrests stemmed from an investigation into the Aug. 11 abduction of an unidentified businessperson who later was rescued.

The investigation involved federal, state and local police, according to the state attorney general's news release. In addition to the arrests, authorities confiscated three assault rifles, a pistol, two cars equipped with lights and sirens, and a house apparently used to hide people who were abducted.

The group was involved mostly in crimes related to drug trafficking, such as settling scores or debts, according to the news release.

Most of the officials who were arrested worked for the city police force, including Francisco Javier Barriga Murillo, 36, who was an assistant director for operations with the Ensenada force.

The other city police officials were identified as Jorge Alberto Cisneros Rodr?guez, 35, who oversaw a tactical group; Jos? Enrique Silva Urrutia, 35; Paul Nicolas Soto Luna, 24; Cristian Alejandro Garc?a L?pez, 28; Jes?s Daniel Alcal? del Valle, 31; Gustavo Demetrio de la Luz Rosales, 26; and Isac Manuel Valdez Cece?a, 29.

A member of the state preventive police force in Ensenada, Juan Pablo Berrelleza Hern?ndez, 20, also was arrested, according to Mexican authorities, along with two Ensenada residents, Noe Israel L?pez Manr?quez, 29, and Alberto Villalobos Pe?a, 34.
