Heavy Rain and Cardboard Houses

Not a good combo. Details on Fred's board, if you're interested.

If anyone is heading that way

I can probably get clothing and food items to take from Maneadero.

OK Hose A,
I appreciate your intentions and it's alright. I'd just like to be clear about mine. I've put the details about "how" on Fred's board because I like his "Joe Friday" approach, in this instance, and I do not wish to discuss "opinions" as to "why", "why not" or fishing metaphors.

I've only put a minimal link here, because I am not interested in starting a holier-than-thou turd flinging contest as to the correct or "best" way to help other people. You all can decide that for yourselves. This is a temporary situation, involving poor people who are probabably going to remain poor, most of them at least. Efforts to help them rise above their circumstance are good and will help some of them or their children farther down the road. Right now, their cardboard shacks have been blown away. Most of them have some form of tenancy, even ownership, of a little piece of ground. They need to rebuild their shacks. They do not have to deal with a restrictive permit process. They just need some tarps, 2x4's, nails, corrugated roofing, whatever, and they will do it themselves.

Help or don't. The details are on Fred's board. I'm not going to discuss or debate it any further here.

How about a place to send money.

And, because of my past trips

jrbaja - 8-16-2005 at 07:09 PM

I have connections to get a lot of things to help these people. No matter where it is posted. It's about the people needing help, right?
I am busy with other things right now.
If some things are needed I will see what I can do to have them available. Probably in Maneadero. It has nothing to do with me or the BS on this board.

I've found that when structuring a makeshift camp zip ties and electrcal or duct tape are invaluable..maybe these items should be added to the list of needs...very inexpensive and easy to transport

If you want to help, the details are there on Fred's board.
Thank you.

Last I saw, a couple day's ago, your friends still hadn't received any checks. Is this still the case? Thanks for the info.
