In photo #6, is that smoke from a brush fire?

Yep, on a trip south

jrbaja - 8-18-2005 at 12:39 PM

near San Vicente

Sharksbaja - 8-18-2005 at 12:53 PM

Is #5 a road?:)

Only

jrbaja - 8-18-2005 at 12:56 PM

at low tide. But, it doesn't go very far and you probably want to have 4WD !

Thanks Grover

jrbaja - 8-18-2005 at 05:53 PM

We did a bunch a while back but right now, I think they're only hanging in my bamba?o down south.
Part of the magic of Baja is that it enables even me to get good pictures.
I think for other people who like to take pictures, I would get as many as possible of the coastlines right away!:light:

David K - 8-18-2005 at 07:24 PM

Good stuff here JR... (you got any GPS to go with them? LOL just kidding!)

turtleandtoad - 8-20-2005 at 06:46 AM

#5 looks like Playa Requeson. I've been there in my RV, the road from Hwy 1 to the beach is a mess but the beach is solid as long as you don't park in the area that floods at high tide (which some Canadians did while I was there).

Playa Requeson

turtleandtoad - 8-20-2005 at 07:03 AM

That's me on the right

Sharksbaja - 8-20-2005 at 11:20 AM

How far "right" are you?

turtleandtoad - 8-20-2005 at 02:11 PM

Actually I'm a little left of center.

Oh you mean in the picture! All the way right! that was my old 32 ft coach right after Semana Santa. Two days before the beach was packed! The majority of the locals had cleared out and gone back to work. The Truck camper is the only other non-native there. He's also the Canadian that parked in the wrong spot during low tide.

I'll be parking there again in my new coach (see sig) in March. Got to use it as much as possible before they develop it.

Sharksbaja - 8-21-2005 at 12:55 AM

Cool tnt. It was unbelievable how many people are camping that week. Some areas completely swamped with Mexicans, go figure!

turtleandtoad - 8-21-2005 at 06:57 AM

Yeah, I had a great time. After looking at the crowds there and on some of the other beaches, I didn't think there were that many people in Mulege! Maybe they came up from Loreto! :?:

The locals put out some pretty amazing cooking off their campfires and it's like everyone is one big family (maybe they were, I never did get the relationships straight:D).

I just wish I had gotten some pictures. Unfourtunately the camera battery decided to refuse a charge at that time & I didn't get a new one until after everyone left. I'll be ready next year.

There were vendors walking/driving through during the day selling every thing from water to ice cream to fire wood to trinkets, kids playing in the water, adults out fishing or chasing down their inflatable boats, blowing across the beach (the wind was a little problem), or just sitting around talking or playing instruments. Kite flying was also very popular, I broke out one of my stunt kites and had a ball teaching the kids how to fly it. Crash landings were the order of the day :o

Unlike the tourist RV parks, you didn't have to have someone walking around, enforcing a "quiet time" in the evening. Everyone just shut up around 11 pm. And Mama and her family kept the outhouses clean and the trash hauled out. That was 50 pesos/day well spent.

It'll be a real loss if they do develop Playa Requeson and the surounding hillsides.

The same dumb s!$#t tries to post a photo & still cant

Another Baja Road

Panga

jrbaja - 8-21-2005 at 11:36 AM

The pics have to be under 50 kb. I use Photoshop and depending on the photo, I sometimes have to shrink it twice to post. Other's have better/easier programs to shrink the photos.

Another try

pangamadness - 8-21-2005 at 11:37 PM

turtleandtoad - 8-22-2005 at 05:52 AM

You're improving. Set your pixel size to 400X600 or 600X800 and you should be ok.

Another Baja road

pangamadness - 8-22-2005 at 11:30 PM

Ya so any one know where that road is? That seems as big as I can get the photo for now.

My truck is down thewre but the panga is in SD

turtleandtoad - 8-23-2005 at 05:31 AM

North of Santa Maria?

turtleandtoad - 8-23-2005 at 05:39 AM

Is this what you were trying to do?

On Edit: Sorry about that, I'm in the Wilds of PA and my Aircard keeps dropping out.

pangamadness - 8-23-2005 at 08:54 PM

Very nice! I am a slow learner. Can you tell me what you did to make it larger?

pangamadness - 8-23-2005 at 08:58 PM

OK, dumb question. You told me a few posts back. I need to get my wife to explain it. Thanks very much for the help. The location is Punta Pulpito.

turtleandtoad - 8-24-2005 at 06:23 AM

You have to have software that will let you set the pixel size and resolution, both of which control file size.

I used Adobe Photoshop Elements to resize your photo. It probably would have come out clearer if I had been using the original photo.

I also could have used Arcsoft Photostudio, the software that came with my Canon Rebel EOS, but I like the user interface in Elements better. It has a button labeled "Save for Internet" which shows the original and the suggested size and resolution changes side by side. Then you can accept the suggested parameters or play around with them until you get what you want.

practice

pangamadness - 9-4-2005 at 08:42 AM

turtleandtoad - 9-4-2005 at 11:46 AM

Now you're getting the hang of it!!

You've got your width pixels set at 436, you can go up to 600 and still fit in the frame if you want as long as the file size doesn't creep up over the 50k limit (you're at 29k with this picture right now).

What software are you using?

BTY, it looks like that guy ran across a hungry Orca!!

[Edited on 9-4-2005 by turtleandtoad]

What am I using?

pangamadness - 9-8-2005 at 03:58 AM

I think the program is Microsoft office picture manager. Seems to be working ok.

Seal Photo

pangamadness - 9-8-2005 at 04:02 AM

Seal Photo was taken in La Jolla Ca a few days ago. Great White Shark is my guess.
