I think that the headline of this post is very misleading. There is nothing in any forecast I have read that would indicate that Hilary will come
anywhere near Baja.
However there is another right behind her.

Hilary has intensified into a hurricane, and will continue to
strengthen on Sunday. Currently, Hilary is located 390 miles southwest of Acapulco, Mexico, and is moving just a touch north of west at 13 mph. It is
possible that the storm will become a major hurricane, with sustained winds over 115 mph, before it moves over cooler water in a few days. Hurricane
Hilary presents no threat to land as the storm will continue to move away from the Mexican coast, and will probably meet its demise sometime late next
week as it turns northwest over the cooler Pacific waters.
There is also a significant area of deep convection associated with a tropical wave which has emerged off of the Central American coast. If this wave
maintains its convection and develops a closed circulation, it would become our next tropical depression.
Of course being a weatherman is one of the few jobs that you can be wrong over and over again and still keep your job.
So we went out yesterday and gassed up and got water and groceries, etc. |
