Hey Judy - Your last shrine and my first one appear to be the same one differently painted. When was yours taken? Mine was Sept. 2004, a year ago.

*Later: I looked through some photos taken same shrine about 12 years ago and at that time it was yellow with red, as in Judy's photo. Lattitude's the same but the attitude changed.

Yeah I know that one by the "ball", certainly a magical place, just South of Mida Flores. It gets new paint real regular, lots of people stop there to light a candle, for sure I have. I've done some serious praying there as a matter of fact. yep, it is a very special shrine indeed. Thank You both for taking me there this evening, will make for some sweet dreams.

Given that cemeteries are sort of multiple shrines, I'm kinda partial to this one.:saint:
**Thanks to my dear friend Tucker for taking this photo and sending it to me.

Thanks Nat, I was not even a nomad when those were posted...very interesting!

These are two more shots of the second one of mine which is in San Raphael by the fishing huts.

And yes those your blue one and my beige one are one and the same at the Tropic of Cancer. I seem to recall another photo of you near that spot.

This is the inside of San Raphael

Found this shrine in the middle of nowhere between Vizcaino and San Ignacio when I was trekking through the desert in 2003.
If these pictures are too large, let me know and I'll change them to links.

Good Stuff-I wish I had (and knew how to use) a scanner! I recoginize maybe half of those posted. How can you do shrines and NOT include ole HECTOR's big rig?

bajajudy - 8-29-2005 at 01:14 PM

White Angel
You are so right and I know that I have a shot of Hector somewhere but cant seem to find it. We had a computer crash 2 years ago and I fear that he was lost then.

bajajudy - 8-30-2005 at 02:49 PM

I did find this one of the Tropic of Cancer with the shrine in the background.
Two years ago my husband and I went to the Tropic of Cancer sphere for summer solstice. Why, you ask? We wanted to take some photos of the ball with no shadow. I have been looking for those pix and cant find them. And perhaps some of you are asking whats the big deal? When there was no shadow that was in fact the summer solstice....the sun was directly overhead. Or let me see if I can get this right...or when the earth was tilted on its axis the fartherest away from the sun. From that day forward, the earth starts tilting more towards the sun.
If I got that right so anyone can understand it, we are talking miracles.
anyway here's the photo

Hector

Paulina - 8-30-2005 at 07:42 PM

I don't have Hector on this computer, but we do have a couple of photos of his unique shrine on our "Baja Wall of Shame" at work. If I am able to post the photo, (I've shrunk it down, but it still may not fit) you'll find 2 pics of Hector's rig in the center of the group of photos shown. If it doesn't post I'll keep trying.

P.>*)))><

Ok, poor quality. Being computer challenged as I am, this is the best I could do. Too bad, cause it's a good photo...

Bajagato/ bajaaddict have a great photo of Hector's shrine. Perhaps they will post it here?

Just wanted to let you know how much I've enjoyed seeing these painted shrines you're posting - especially the rock paintings. I will have to start searching for them on my trips in the future.
