I was given this link by fellow nomad.
Can anyone suggest which live well is best for 14' tin boat and 16' if there is a difference?
I would like the largest and best, but I want to be reasonable. Also any accessories I will need? I think mullets for YTT would be the largest bait????
Thanks,
Al G

The most knowledgable guy on the west coast is http://www.livebaitlarry.com
Most of the guys in the tin boats in San Lucas as well as BOLA all seem to use a cooler for the tank. They use a bilge pump which they mount on the transom, outside, for the water pick up. They also use a pvc fitting cut at a 45 degree angle to supply water when under way to the fishing area. Both intakes require a pvc ball valve to adjust the water intake. Then the overflow is the drain and it drains about 1 1/2 inch from the top of the cooler. Obviously this drain needs to be the next larger size, usually a 1 inch or so drain. Another great invention is to lay a small sheet of 1/4 inch foam insulation that floats on top of the water in the bait tank and keeps the splashing down to a minumum.

Larry knows his stuff. You can call him and explain what you have and what you want it to do and he will set you up right.

All the bait tanks Ive ever had on my boats were not re-circ systems. I would go with a system like this for salt, check out the PF14 http://www.livebaitlarry.com/ready_to_fish.asp

By the way, I've seen the PF14 model being sold at the West Marine near H&M Landing in San Diego. Just in case you wanted to examine one before purchasing.
