A friend of mine who I haven't seen in 15 years is coming out to visit me. I have been telling him about my trips to Baja, and now he really wants to
go and see for himself. I am trying to decide if we should go to Gonzaga or BOLA, so I am asking for any opinions which would be the best experience
for my friend. We plan to surffish, snorkle, go out in my cabin cruzer ( costco rubber raft) and generally relax. We might camp, but if it is too
hot, try and get a room with AC. We are old farts over 50, so we don't want to suffer in the heat to much. Thanks for any help. We only have 6
days so I am thinking we can't do both, as I would like to go on the Pacific side for a few days also.

BOLA. More stuff to do and more picturesque in my opinion. But Gonzaga is nice also. You really can't go wrong.

I love Gonzaga bay, but for what you want to do, I would go to the BOLA.

Just noticed your location in Calabasas. I work there.

Pop into Gonzaga... only 1-2 hrs. from Mex. 1 with a visit at Coco's Corner... If it isn't what you seek, go on to Bahia de L.A. or go the next day.
Stay at Alfonsina's for the one night to keep it easy. Not Hot in October...

If you think you want to go to Gonzaga Bay research posts here about how hard it is on tires. Isn't that right David thats why he and other people
like it so much because not many want to abuse their vehicles.
Hard on tires and

sometimes a very tiring drive, then, you have to do it all over again when you leave. All things considered, I'd suggest BOLA.

Gonzaga is a wonderful place...very rugged, few supplies, and a challenge to get to....BoLA is more populated, has more services, and is paved all the
way into town. I suppose it all depends on what you want...both are beautiful and have there positives and negatives....I prefer camping over hotels
so Gonzaga gets my vote.
Enyoy!

Just finished watching " Shelter from the storm" .... heart breaking.
Thanks for everyone's ideas. We leave on Tuesday! (kind of spur of the moment trip) If I go to Gonzaga I will Take Mex 1, shouldn't be too hard on
the tires that way, right? I've got to see Gonzaga Bay after looking at every ones pictures. David is right, maybe 1 or 2 nites there, then on to
Bolaaaaaaaaa.
I do believe the weather is cooling some what.
JZ- Nice little town to work in, no?
heres a little sunset pic of Gonzaga bay...

Pulled this off the San Felipe web site:
Saturday 10 September, 2005, 7:30 a.m. It was like the curtain dropped yesterday. When that humidity lowered from 46 to 23 in one day, the weather
immediately seemed cooler. Thursday's high was 104, Friday dropped to 96; that's 8 degrees. And the nights are lovely for sleeping. This morning there
is a slight, cool breeze fanning us as we drink coffee on the patio. Fall is definitely here (or at least well on the way). st
But....just got an e-mail from a buddy at Gonzaga who says that they are sleeping on their roof at night just to get a little breeze. Still hot and
humid. Further south will get stickier, but you'll know a bit better when you get to the turnoff at Chapala.

Thanks for the heads up. I am hoping that this cool front that's going thru ca. will make it down south, but who knows. 90's I can take as long as
the humidity is not too high. I would rather camp some nights, but I like being able to sleep without sweating. I know, I'm a wimp. And I don't think
Alfonsina's has A/C and I don't have reservations, no clue how full it will be....now I am rambling on ...just go= have fun
And thanks for the pictures guys.
