Hola Nomads--Just back from a quick one week trip to Loreto to check on my construction. The road is in excellant shape. Gas is about $2.30 a gal.
and diesel is less than half the price of here in the States. Fishing really sucks right now so between that and the extreme heat, most are not going
out. Did I say heat? It was so hot and humid that it reminded me of Viet Nam in the Monsoon season. Still don't see much going on down in Nopolo
with the Canadian Loreto Bay project but, Loreto is no longer a secret. Lots of building going on in town. Had a great time as always but will
certainly avoid Loreto in Sept. and August. Always have and now I remember why.movinguy - 9-11-2005 at 07:01 PM

I will ask the jr Cousteau what his dad would have thought of this type of community situated so close to a fragile and diverse marine eco-system. One
that has seen such pressure and changes.bajaden - 9-13-2005 at 11:44 PM
Sometimes, I'm just in awe.. By the way, the monsoon season sucked. I remember doing 24 hours of radio duty and falling asleep on the hood of a truck
in the rain. Well maybe it was only 8 hours, but the truck part was true. Well, OK it might have been a jeep. It was raining damm it. OppsBob H - 9-14-2005 at 08:01 AM

Phil...
How are you and the wife? Looks like our neighborhood is about to start construction! One of the owners and investors at Loreto Bay is part owner of
the Arizona Cardinals and he put together a package for the Loreto Bay owners. The only NFL season game to be played out of the country will be in
Mexico City at the end of September so the package consists of 3 nights at the Marriot Mexico City, pre night party and dinner, pre game party and
tickets to the game....Can't wait. Lot closes in October also!wilderone - 9-15-2005 at 10:39 AM
Lemme ask you guys something - have you ever owned a vacation home before? Have you ever lived in a foreign country before? Do the math - how many
5-star hotel room nights can be purchased RIGHT NOW for $300,000? I've owned a vacation home in Lake Tahoe for 12 years now. The first couple years
I went up every month - I haven't been up in a year now. Believe me when I tell you that the enthusiasm fades. And if you're thinking about re-sale
for profit, it ain't even a reality yet for you. You all really can't see the half-truths in ALL of their hype?vandenberg - 9-15-2005 at 10:44 AM
LORETO BAY
There is a Mexican developer building condos here in Nopolo. Two buildings right now and a new 24 unit 4 story one being offered. Check the prices on
those. www.puntanopolo.comCincodemayo - 9-15-2005 at 11:25 AM
Vandenburg...
We went thru those while down last March. Nice but didn't even compare with all the amenities Loreto Bay has to offer with the hotel pools and all
that comes with it. I believe Jesus and his brother had the Nopolo condos.
They were more towards the high 200's and 300's back then...Holy mole they've gone up considerably.vandenberg - 9-15-2005 at 01:19 PM
Cinco
Do you also realise that those amenities Loreto Bay advertise in their brochures, are only proposed and not guaranteed??Cincodemayo - 9-15-2005 at 02:49 PM
vandenburg...
I was refering to the hotel which is already there. Nothing in life is guaranteed! Only time will tell for the rest...At this point I could care less
about the beachclub.Phil S - 9-16-2005 at 07:55 AM
wilderone. Any chance you'd like to sell your Lake Tahoe home for what you paid for it? Can't imagine anyone NOT using a home up there, unless the
drive is too much. Lived in South Lake Tahoe for a time in the late 60's. Kick myself for not buying in those days. Neighbor down the street was a
fellow named Chartrand or maybe it was Shartrand. He was a partner in Barnies casino on the north end of town. Some time later he was blown up in
his nice Cadillac at his home. I had moved into the East Bay, by that time. Foster City. Should have bought a house there too!!!!!!
Cincodemayo: Great to hear you've closed sale on your lot, and construction is about to start. What do you know about the Mexican laborers that
didn't get paid by their mainland Mexican contractor and walked off the job, and many moved back to the mainland? Local residents say there isn't
much going on in the way of laborers on the Phase One project, and it is almost at a standstill. Not good news. Nothing being said on the
loretobay.com website about that. Maybe they have moved to your project down by the new Punta Nopolo condo project. Hope to see you down there
this winter. You making any plans to come down?
Vandenberg. Got your email. Wonder whats going on? How about on your next walk you stop by their office and inquire and get back to us?Cincodemayo - 9-16-2005 at 09:47 AM
Phil...Haven't heard anything like that. I'm sure the Phase 1 buyers will be chiming in with discord and a what the heck is happening. I heard they
had added a 4th contractor but now I guess it's closer to 3? Pictures on flikr.com show our area ready to go....They don't finish on time they don't
get their $$$. There are flaky contractors everywhere but in Mexico there's always manana!
By the way we'll surely inquire about the theiving contractor..thanks for the heads up.

Phil: Sell it for what I paid for it? Don't think so. The drive isn't too much - I love the drive. I've just had a lot on my plate lately - a
couple rentals to upgrade, trips to Chiapas, Baja; a new bed/bath addition on my primary residence has been an intense past 4 months. I don't go up
in the winter, so that's really only 6 months of the year that is available. I let a contractor friend use it all last summer in trade for rebuilding
the deck posts. Actually, I want to do a 1031 tax exchange for a new house in Clear Lake - it will appreciate faster.
