Here are Robby's comments after the wreck on Sunday in New Hampshire.
We were at the Speedway in Fontana two weeks ago when he knocked the fence down in Turn 2.
Gotta admit, us off road racers always make it interesting!!
Robby Comments on his actions and the wreck: #7-Robby Gordon finished the Sylvania 300 in 37th position Sunday, a result of a lap 190 spin courtesy of
Michael Waltrip. The incident came following Gordon's pass of Waltrip for the fourth position. For a reason unknown to Gordon, Waltrip moved down the
track and spun the #7 Jim Beam Chevrolet after it had made a clean pass of Waltrip's Chevrolet. "First and foremost, I want to apologize for the words
I chose immediately after our race had ended," Gordon said. "We had a decent car and we were obviously hoping to give our sponsors Jim Beam, Harrah's
and Menards a top-10 finish. For some reason Michael obviously wanted that spot a lot more than I did because he flat took me out as I was cleared in
front of him. I let my emotions get the better of me and I apologize. We bumped door to door when I went around him, and I don't know if that made him
mad or what. I don't know what it is, but he puts the bumper to me a lot, and this time he did what he set out to do. We basically destroyed a great
race car, and unfortunately it's the people that work in the shop that really suffer. We didn't deserve that at all."
For his part, Waltrip said Gordon passed him "like he was in the desert or something." Gordon's reply: "We were clearly a better car at that point
than Michael, and he was going backward. I wasn't the only guy to pass him, just the one he decided to wreck. He's right about the desert comment -- I
pass guys clean all the time in the desert, just like I did in this case. I'm just sorry we didn't bring home a better result for Jim

same word got Earnhardt Jr. a similar $25k deduction from his pay slip.

Robby Gordon among those fined by NASCAR

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (Ticker) - Robby Gordon's helmet-throwing incident proved costly.
Gordon was among those fined by NASCAR on Monday, one day after several bouts of road rage broke out in the first race in the "Chase for the Nextel
Cup" at New Hampshire International Speedway.
Gordon received a total of $35,000 in fines and was placed on probation for the remainder of the year for incidents stemming from Sunday's NASCAR
Sylvania 300. He also lost 50 driver points, as did owner James Smith.
Following a crash involving Mike Bliss and Joe Nemechek on lap 192, Gordon attempted to pick up track position during the caution by speeding past
Michael Waltrip, who rear-ended him in retaliation.
Having been spun sideways, Gordon tried to back his car into Waltrip's as it moved past him on the track's low line. The next time Waltrip came
around, Gordon fired his helmet at the side of his car.
In an interview on TNT, Gordon used an obscenity in describing Waltrip. He later apologized for his words and actions.
Waltrip was fined $10,000 and penalized 25 driver points because of an inappropriate gesture during a televised broadcast. Car owner Teresa Earnhardt
also was penalized points.
"There have been a growing number of incidents lately where drivers have taken matters into their own hands," NASCAR president Mike Helton said. "Such
unsafe and inappropriate behavior has to stop. NASCAR will use whatever means necessary to stop it."
There also were a host of other penalties levied, including a $25,000 for Kasey Kahne, who also was placed on probation for the remainder of the year.
Kahne also was penalized 25 driver points, as was owner Ray Evernham.
On lap 166, Kahne went into the turn 2 wall after contact with Kyle Busch. He returned the favor 15 laps later, later admitting that was his intent.
Lance McGrew, the crew chief of the No. 25 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Brian Vickers, was fined $10,000 and placed on probation for the remainder
of the year. The team had its car confiscated after the weekend's initial inspection process due to an unapproved body.
Vickers was penalized 25 driver points as was car owner Mary Hendrick.

I can see where Robby is coming from. It my understanding that if he's not among the top 35 racers at the end of this year he has to qualify at each
race next year. Finishing in the top 10 for the remaining races would put him in the top 35.

TW- you are correct that the very large incentive in points is automatic qualification for each race.
However, that top 35 only applies to the first four races of 2006 (although the biggie is, of course, the Daytona 500, which is brutally hard for one
outside of the top 35 to make)
After race four the points deal goes to cumulative points in that year (again, if you miss a race in the beginning it is really hard to catch up.)
One of the commentators made the remark that NASCAR would probably dock him as many points as it took to deprive him of the top 35- however, at nearly
200 points out of that magic circle the Robby we know and love was never, ever, not a chance, going to make up those points in the last 10 races.

Well, I entered the item number and apparently, on my computer at least, the item has been withdrawn by eBay.
Not certain what all that means .. but, a scam of some sort?
It was a good story, if true, but it looks a little funny to me. I had first checked it and it said the bidding was over, sold for something like 9.6
million bucks (for hurricane Katrina victims) yet another part of the listing I looked at said it ended on the 27th of Sept.
Someone will find out what gives?????
