Hugo Lopez, El Rosario's talented artist and his paintings

David K - 9-20-2005 at 10:53 PM

Paintings are in the lobby and some rooms at Baja Cactus Motel and at Hugo's 'Tacos La Mision' cafe... on the right as you head south...

He is very talented and his love of the peninsula shows!

Hugo wants to walk the coast of Baja from Guerrero Negro north to El Rosario, arriving at the time of next year's festival... I have visited with Graham Mackintosh to pick up some hints for Hugo and will take him along the coast for a recon trip this winter...

If any Nomad would like to meet this really nice man, do stop in... His paintings and other art pieces are for sale...

The last photo shows the four seperate paintings that make the mural of the Spanish arriving in Baja... Hugo is holding one of the four in an earlier photo above (for size scale)... The four piece is in the Baja cactus lobby.

An art gallery in Ensenada has recognized Hugo's talent and has some, last I heard... I will get details... maybe BajaCactus (Antonio) knows?

Other than that... Hugo's paintings are on display (and for sale) at The Baja Cactus Motel (in some of the rooms, and lobby). Most are at Hugo's cafe 'Tacos Mision' 1.5 miles from Baja Cactus, on the left past the army base.

Hugo is an artist by heart...at the moment, he does not have any gallery or dedicated store where to promote and/or sell his paintings.

Being a close friend, we offer to help him get his art recognized...so far, thru some friends, his paintings have been on display at the local tv station in San Quintin...and he has also been invited as an expositor in several regional art expositions.

You can buy his paintings directly with him at his taco stand "Tacos Mision" (good and very clean food).

Everything he paints there, once finished, he takes to BajaCactus for display at our rooms and are for sale as well.

We at BajaCactus, take no profit in his sales...it is just a way to help each other...he shows his paintings and we decorate our rooms and facilities.

If you wish to contact him for a specific request and/or painting, you can send me an e-mail at info@bajacactus.com and I will gladly get the message to him.

His paintings will also be in display and available thru the BajaCactus website...once I finish it.

Hugo will have his work on display for the FESTIVAL in TWO weeks... Next to the town plaza/park...

That is number 21 on the map... Hugo's taco shop (and art studio) is number 36 on the map...
