Brought home a nice big bag of my favorite unrefined granular white sugar that I bought at Gigante.
When Teresa refilled her hummingbird feeder she used a generous helping of the sugar mixed with hot water, cooled it down and I hung it up outside.
The feeder is clear glass....
Guess what???
Very dark brown color to this (normally) colorless mixture.
Anyone ever take a close look at this stuff to see what is really mixed in with it?? Like floor sweepings maybe??
(but it still tastes real good on the breakfast flakes)

Mom always washed the beets before she cooked them when I was a kid...

Did a lot of pheasant hunting it those beet fields. Never chewed on one though.

I've noticed the same thing ... clear if you boil it, cloudy if not. thought it was because it was less refined I think I like that thought better than floor sweepings
