Its all according to where you are. Even the smallest towns have internet cafes....usually dial-up.
Where are you planning on visiting?

There are internet cafe's in every village that's big enough to have telephones and power. Almost all will allow you to hook up your laptop. If they don't, walk down the street and you'll find another one that will. More and more of them are going WiFi so even that isn't a problem.

Rates seem to vary from shop to shop and town to town, depends on the population size, amount of competition, phase of the moon, and whether the owner is an ex-Pemex employee.

Just kidding, I have no idea why the prices vary, but they do. I've seen it as cheap as 50 centavos and up to 20 peso's for an hour. At 20 pesos I took my own advice and walked. The next one was 10 pesos, which I accepted.

At the internet cafes do they have computers already there or do you have to have your own laptop?

Both.

They have their own for you to use if you've got webmail or just want to surf the net, or you plug in your laptop.

20 pesos a hour is less than $2.00 - pretty cheap in most areas.

Compared to the US or Canada, it's dirt cheap!! But for Baja Sur, it's about twice the going rate. At least from what I found in the smaller towns and villages. Of course places like Cabo it's probably higher than 20 pesos, I don't really know because I stayed at a WiFi enabled RV park (Vagabundos).

If I remember rightly, the Internet place up the street from Bruce charged 10 pesos

Thanks to all for the info.
That really makes it eazy to leave the Dirctway Sat. dish at home. We expect to be in Baja around the 18th or so of Nov. for about 3 months. Most of that time in the Bay of Conception area.
Thanks to all
Joe

Oh, Sorry.
For those that don't know who Bruce is, or where he lives. that place up the street from Bruce is in Mulege. The town closest to the Bay of Concepcion.

Or should I say "Lived"? Have you moved yet Bruce?
