Sign of early autumn in Berkeley - last night it rained for the first time since early spring.
And the photo below is autumn colors in the Eastern Sierras:

Pompano - do you ever make crab apple jelly?
We used to gather all the crab apples my mom and little sister and I could drag off in a bushel basket, then go home and make jelly. It was sooooo
good! Years into my marriage, my mother-in-law gave me a jar of her crab apple jelly. My lord - it was the most sour thing! Think my mom
must have gone heavy on the sugar.

My favorite California fall destination is also the eastern sierras. Can anyone guess the name of this lake (picture taken in october)? Clue: known
for trophy sized lahontan cutthroats.

Skipjack - Don't know the name of your lake, but sure would like to so I could perhaps go there some time... looks so beautiful, so
serene. That you and your boy fishing?
Great photo!

No, that's not me. I'm the one making the ripples in the foreground. I was in a float tube when these guys came by. It's not that great by sierra
standards but in the right light in the fall it has it's moments.
That's Heenan lake. You can only fish it on September and October weekends. It's a catch-and-release lake that DFG runs to maintain some of the last
lahontan cutthroat trout in the state.
