Looking for a way to off road from BOLA to Las Animas other than the dirt road shown on most Baja maps. Preferably down the beach, wash, goat trail or ?? Travelling in capable off road buggies, no trail to tough ! Do you have a favorite beach camp in this area ?

Butch, there are MOUNTAINS between the two bays... only big horn sheep can get over them... There are some older roads south of Bahia... pre-graded road roads... But, they are often overgrown from lack of use. One follows the railroad track bed from Las Flores to the terminal at the bottom of the canyon (below the San Juan mines... The old road south to San Francisquito would be a fun, tough run... I have done it a couple times... I have GPS, etc. ... check my web site GPS page...

Here's the original road south of Bahia de los Angeles, made famous by Erle Stanley Gardner in 'Off the Beaten Track in Baja' 1967. Gardner's team opened up this abandoned track that follows part of the Jesuit's Gulfo Camino Real... This photo is between La Bocana and the graded road south of San Rafael...

David;
Thanks for the info. You confirmed what I thought might be ! Will do a trip report when we return.

Corky, thanks for posting the pix of the "Arc". Guess we can't go undercover anymore !?
