las aguilas de mexicali

Has anyone been to a ball game in Mexicali? Are there ever games when you cannot walk up and buy a ticket? I was hoping to go to the game there on December 26, and e-mailed the team through their website, but haven't received a response.

I'll answer my own question. I attended the first game of a Christmas doubleheader versus Navojoa. It was a 3pm start---all single games begin at 7pm----I got there at 1pm and got tickets in the eighth row, directly behind the plate---60 pesos. El Nido de las Aguilas holds 16,000. My guess is that there were about 5,000 there that day.

Extremely good tacos sold on the main level. Homemade potato chips garnished with salsa picante sold by vendors in the stands. Lots of music on the sound system---most of it relating to what was happening in the game.

The following day was the last of the season, and fortunate for Mexicali. They did not look good at all, with at least five of the starting lineup batting .160 or under.

Apparently Fernando Valenzuela pitched, and won, the second game of the day for Las Aguilas.

I Haven't been since they remodeled the stadium. I heard it's nice. I used to go a lot a few years ago. Good beer and food. Oh yeah you can bet on who will score the next run also. The fans are very into the game also. They always have out loud commets most of the time funny stuff..
Like you mentioned they didn't do very well at the end. Only winning a couple games. It's still a good time and a great price compared to games at Petco Park in SD...
