BajaNomad

are there no cavemen left in baja?

eetdrt88 - 10-27-2005 at 10:15 AM

every so often a poll or a thread comes up about progress in Baja and it really makes me laugh...hearing both sides spout about the pros and cons of turning baja into another southern cal....the reality is there are still quite a few places in baja where a conversation like this is meaningless, where the seeds of progress have not been planted or if they have its very slow moving...not everywhere is like Loreto and the east cape, thank the lord...and sometimes when youre in an unusual spot thats basically in the middle of nowhere youll run into one of these vaqueros or fishermen who you can converse with on a very simple level and thats usually when i really start to question this notion that "progress" is what these people want, although they often seem satisfied in their simple way of life I think it is hard for the average gringo(like myself) to see how they can survive in a world without all the neccesary things to make life enjoyable like: a plasma tv,a new car or truck,a big house,10-15 supermarkets close by,a 50-100 mile radius of shopping all around you, credit cards, golf courses, fast food, and the list goes on and on and etc....do i feel guilty that these things are an integral part of life as we know it,not in the least and its even better when your friend or neighbor has all these things and wants to you to help them use it:O:lol::O:lol:...but the funny thing is that when youre going down the road in baja and you run across some caveman in the middle of nowhere with a can of tecate and a grin at about 9 in the morning, youve gotta wonder does this guy even know that all these things exist and better yet...does he even give a flying f***:lol::lol

Spyderman - 10-27-2005 at 12:40 PM

I think I'd live longer if I was the caveman.

latortugaguera - 10-27-2005 at 01:16 PM

Randy

You wanted your user name to be Land Turtle Lady Warrior?

zforbes - 10-27-2005 at 02:11 PM

Osprey, maybe I'm misunderstanding your comment, but I thought guera (with the diuresis, which I don't know how to make on the computer) meant "blonde." (I asked once about the meaning of "P-nche guera" and had it all kindly explained to me on this board.)

that would be the best translation to la tortuga guera exept for it would have to be guerrera for warrior. la tortugaguera sounds more like the land turtle war, without a double r. I think she means to write latortugag?era so the leter u can be pronunced "?" has to be used ;D

zforbes - 10-27-2005 at 04:18 PM

This is a serious question (more or less)...what about the blonde thing (guera with the two dots)? Why do you think she means warrier rather than blonde? (Maybe I should ask her, but I'm treading with caution!)

Sorry, Gull

zforbes - 10-27-2005 at 04:23 PM

My post, my intent...your interpretation misses the mark.

Cincodemayo - 10-27-2005 at 04:45 PM

Her avatar is from the "Beautiful People site". Heck if she looked half that good the beer or margueritas would be on me. Nothin better than some tequilla to cool off the outbursts:tumble:

By the way eetdrt...as a true caveman does that entitle you to carry your woman around by her hair?

There are!

Don Jorge - 10-27-2005 at 05:32 PM

Put on your boots and pack and take a walk for few days. There are signs of caveman everywhere water could be found or hoped to be found.

David K - 10-27-2005 at 05:45 PM

Don Jorge, that's a great area to explore... the canyon between Mision Santa Maria and Gonzaga Bay!

woody with a view - 10-27-2005 at 05:50 PM

okay, not being one to let an opening go by unexplored:

why do cavemen drag their women by their hair?

woody with a view - 10-27-2005 at 05:52 PM

if they dragged them by their feet they'd fill with dirt.....:lol::lol:

i apologize ladies, nothing personal-just FUNNY!

rts551 - 10-27-2005 at 05:52 PM

ahhhh.... seems like it is a posting contest anymore - one liners, inflamatory comments, etc. must be bored with JR gone for a while. Lets see some people 10-15 posts a day 365 days a week ... should catch the leaders one of these days... unless they speed up as well... hmmm makes finding out the latest about BAJA a little tough.

zforbes - 10-27-2005 at 06:03 PM

Mea culpa...I stand reminded to take the word duels and funnies to off topic and not jump into the fray. Better to do Baja here. THnks for the reminders. Zoe

Don Jorge - 10-28-2005 at 10:45 AM

Take your crap to the off topic section, please?

bajalera - 10-28-2005 at 10:55 AM

So this thread belongs on the Off-Topic Board if you want to be picky, but it's certainly interesting. Although that handful of dedicated Nomad nasties keep accusing all liberals of being mean and hateful, I can't recall that we've ever had a liberal who really seems to enjoy dumping on these guys in their own terms, using the in-your-gosh darn-face, take-no-fawking-prisoners style they so consistently apply .

Yes, there's been Nancy, but her focus is more on spreading info rather than fuchi caca, and Chuy is busy these days with his restaurant.

So line me up with Zoe: This is fun to watch--and thanks to good ole Gull I know what to say to Tort:

YOU GO, GIRL!

Lera

yea take it to off topic...

eetdrt88 - 10-28-2005 at 11:35 AM

this is supposed to be the baja caveman thread:lol::lol:

Watch out 88

The Gull - 10-29-2005 at 02:21 PM

...you may find yourself deleted. There's seems to be a rash of it going on these days.

comitan - 10-29-2005 at 02:46 PM

But Gull thats an ancestral thread, part of our history

David K - 10-29-2005 at 04:11 PM

Hmmm.... "whoosh!":?::no:

Maybe I should change my signature to " "... oh, never mind!

comitan - 10-29-2005 at 04:26 PM

rpleger - 10-29-2005 at 04:58 PM

Politicaly correct one would call them Cave People.

I see them coming through Muleg? with campers about this time of year going to the beaches to do cave people things.
