Went to home depot yesterday, they had a lot of tools reasonably priced it was similar to US depot but with a lot of Mexican Products, we didn't find anything we wanted but will go back for some tile that would be perfect for what we want and very reasonably priced. I think everyone would have to make thier own decision of the store.

It is difficult to go to Home Depot and not buy anything. How did you do that?:wow:

We were there for opening day and I must say that it was quite an interesting experience. The employees although green were as helpful as could be. The only ugly incident I saw was the gringo in line behind us who verbally abused his wife throughout our checkout.
It was a great opportunity to see old friends.
We bought 2 Hampton Bay fans.....if you deduct the 30% importation fees, which all people in business here have to pay to get merchandise down here, the prices seemed comparable to the states.
The really good news is no more suitcases, vehicles stuffed with hardware items. We brought all the fans for our house down in suitcases two at a time.
The garden department didnt have a large variety of plants but I talked to one of the guys working and he said that they would have many more and different plants later. They had some nice seeds and little pots with herb seeds...I bought both.
We are building a small warehouse for our books and picked up 30 double wall sockets for under $25...packets of 10 for 87pesos
There was a toilet/sink combo for about $105.
Lotsa power tools and accessories.
A huge non a/c-ed room full of wood stuff(2x4's, plywood etc all treated, it looked like)...for construction.
Unfinished furniture
Beautiful doors...cheap looking windows. Sun lights. Louvered closet doors. Carrier a/c's.
Basically the same stock as the Home Depot in your town.
Rode by today and the parking lot was packed again.

Bob

What I didn't spend at the Home Depot I spent and then some ar Costco, can you believe 10 solar garden lights in stainless for 555.00 pesos you can't do better than that in the states. Also the Canadian dry salami wrapped in Parmasan.

Won't be long it'll be just like the U.S., I wonder if that's a bad thing?

If you live in La Paz, it's a good thing.
