Agave

The agave is so common in baja that I think many of us don't appreciate it's beauty sometimes. It's a plant that looks better close up and under good lighting conditions. This specimen was shot just south of El Rosario during that magic hour before sunset.

I personally find the bud of an agave to be more beautiful than that head of yellow flowers it develops. Well, maybe not. This one was taken on the same slope as the previous shot about 20 minutes later.

Agave leaf patterns

When examined up close the linear quality of their leaf patterns is truly beautiful. This agave occured in South America where they seem to be used as hedges on the ranchos of Peru. It seems that wherever the Spaniards went they planted these guys. Many of the old California missions also have them dispersed throughout their grounds.

I've been here all the time. Just lurking about without contributing anything. I tried a few jokes in the OFF TOPIC area but apparently I'm the only one that thinks they're funny.

I guess I haven't posted much on the fishing forum recently. I guess I like the photo gallery forum because the pictures speak for themselves. I just take from the image what I see in it personally. It's a form of communication that works for me.

Doesn't mean my appetite for fishing has diminished in the slightest degree. I am still hungering to see Bahia Gonzaga. I haven't seen a single image of that place that's not breathtaking. I yearn to go there very much and your stories have contributed to that greatly.

They are truly beautiful and should be examined closely but
BE CAREFUL when examining cactus up close. I had a friend that almost got her eye poked out by one of these:

It poked her less than an inch away from her eye. Kinda scary.

This one was east of El Rosario on the La Vibora grade road, last November...
