Is this the same as the restarante "Correcaminos"??
One of my adopted sons is from Guadalupe, he says that the best cooking is at his mother-in-law's home but he has heard that the restarante at km 83
is excellent.
Are we talking two places, two names, or is someone more confused than I??

Thanks for the extended info.
Juan indicated that km 83 is at San Antonio de las Minas, just south of Guadalupe where his original family is from.
Also up a road to the East are several orphanages that I visited some years back, my recollection is that the paved road crossed through (like
splashing) a small river, then on down to small settlements and at least a couple orphanages, probably all changed by now.
I will have Juan check the whole thing out next time down and post his update.

Please do have Juan tell of other tasty dining establishments that he is familiar with. We are always looking to try something new and different!

Our favorites in Rosarito are, Cazuela del Mole, La Estancia, Le Cousteau, Portofino, Bobby's By The Sea, and the new Ortegas in Puerto Nuevo during
the week. These are all great restaurants every time we go.

My boy Juan is going down on Nov. 8 for a quincinera. He promised to try and get "local reviews" as well as personal taste testing on the various
restarantes in and near Guadalupe.
Stay tuned for his report.

Thanks for the tips. We will see if we can locate those places. Have you eaten at Chipotle? We tried it and it was good. The owners were very friendly
and they make some special salsas including one with mangoes. yummy

Anxiously awaiting. We are only 26 miles from the border and we have been known to drive down for a meal. We have some favorites that we always hit,
but there's always room for more.

In San Antonio de las Minas, leave the highway to the east and go about 1/4 mile until you cross over bridge over a creek. Look for the signs for el
Vivero (Nursery) that direct you to make a left hand turn. Great location, good food, family run for decades. Outdoor dining this time of year is
the best.

Left hand turn when heading south?? We have driven that road 1/2 dozen times in last year and keep missing the place. I will slow down.
Gracias!!
Hey I re-read your post and got out my map and compass and gps and have determined that in fact if one is heading south in this area that to go east
you HAVE to turn left! Thank You!!

Yes, if you turn east, it doesn't matter wahrt direction you start from. It does matter that you slow down at San Antonio, becuase you can miss the
ONLY street that seems to be a street. Once you have turned east you do not go very far until you turn left which by my globe is north. You kinda
lose the paved road at that point, but be brave because it is about 100 yards away, across a gully.
Baja Bernie - 10-24-2003 at 07:04 AM
Elgatoloco,
The left turn is correct, then cross over the bridge, go about one block and turn left again--then you cross the river bed and make a right turn.
Indeed, a unreal setting amoung the oaks is a nursery and a cafe. Water fountains add to the coolness! Speciality is Barbaco (spelling) goat. Keep
looking it is worth it. People from Ensenada come up here to get away from the heat.
If you go straight past the bridge you will find out why it is called los Minos.
Look up as you cross the river bed and you will see a small sign hanging in the oaks--Restaurente!

Elgatoloco, I second that for San Antonio de las Minas. This is a great place to relax and enjoy yourself. We went there on a Saturday morning and
they had live music around noon. The setting makes it well worth locating.

Yep, some incredible authentic flavors. As well as Chipotle and other flavored tortillas. A really good call.
