Is there a Pemex or at least a source of gasoline in Gonzaga Bay?
Sometimes.....

Probably about the best answer. I'd venture that probably half the times we've been there you can get gasoline at Rancho Grande. Rancho Grande is the
market/old gas station on the right as you near the turn to Alfonsinas. The new Pemex is across the road from Rancho Grande, on your left. We've never
seen the new station open, though I believe a post here has said it is open from time to time.
We've almost always been able to get gas at Catavina, either at the station at La Pinta or from a vendor across the street from the La Pinta.
For you trip Ken, you could be assured of gasoline during daytime hours at the junction of Bay of L A road and Highway 1 - from the back of a pick-up
truck - but it would be out of your way since you'll be heading north instead.
I think I'd take a chance on gas at Catavina.

Gas at gonzaga
mcgyver - 11-21-2005 at 04:02 PM
The Pemex has been consistantly open for several months, the operator lives in the building. A holiday weekend could run him out, Magna Sin only. Drum
gas is always available at Racho Grande store and in Cavatina in daylight hours. Drum gas is available at the LA bay junction with 1 in the daytime
hours. Villa Jesus Maria north of Guerrero Negro has a Pemex. Unless you use tremondous amounts compared to your tank capacity you should be able to
make it from there to Gonzaga. Me I always carry at least 0ne 5 gallon can and most of the time 2 because I don't like to sleep along side the highway
waiting for daylight and gasoline, saved me and others more that once.Ken Cooke - 11-21-2005 at 07:29 PM
Thanks for the info. We are carrying two 5 gallon Jerry Cans each. Having gasoline in S.L.Gonzaga will make things much easier on our peace of mind,
however, we plan to travel into Gonzaga with those cans filled in the event that nothing is available...

Neal, Maybe if I play my Desert Trance music loud enough, the attendant will just let me pump whatever amount of gasoline I need! Neal Johns - 11-22-2005 at 05:09 PM
I heard (Pun!) that Trance turns you into a zombie and that the locals will drive a stake through your heart and bury you under the runway!

Neal - Here is a song you can relate to!
"Zombie Nation" led the dance at the biggest rave in Germany this past April. Their "unappeasable lust for blood" (and be it their own) also made
them enter the dangerous terrain of major label cooperations. That helped to bring Kernkraft 400 up to # 2 on the German Dance Charts.
Roman Card##as, who is the owner of the Pemex Gas Station in Bahia San Luis Gonzaga, had some problems with his equipment and therefore had to close
the gas station last week.
I talked to him today and he told me that he has been unable to permanently resolve the problem... he believes he will have it fixed sometime next
week.
In the meantime, he has been opening erratically...depending on his equipment.
Hope this info helps.

News on Gonzaga Pemex...
BajaCactus - 11-23-2005 at 11:00 PM
I was contacted today by Roman (the owner of the Pemex Gas Station at San Luis Gonzaga), he told me that he finally resolve his problems at his Gas
Station...now they are only waiting for some paperwork to be done at the Pemex offices in order to be fully operational again.
In the meantime, he is having one dispenser unit open (one pump) at their regular business hours...
