Maybe one of you is a tech out there. I have a security webcam at my house which is connected to the Internet via Direcway. I would like to view the
camera remotely from a computer outside that network. Can't seem to make anything work.
I would like to view remotely for purposes of survelence and more importantly I'd like to connect the webcam while I speak with my folks over the
phone so they can see my kids live.
I know that Direcway uses a dynamic DNS and perhaps my webcam has a different IP from the PC its running on? But I think that the upload speed may be
too slow to view and maybe that has something to do with it.
Any advicew would be appreciated.
Muchas gracias!

I don't know much on this subject but I frequently hear that webcam over satellite users need to drop their refresh rate down to something on the
order of 1 per sec. Not quite sure how that is accomplished however or if that is even your problem since you cannot get it to even connect. You may
want to try asking your question over on http://www.rvnetworking.com. In their forums section there is a lot of talk about networking issues with Starband and Direcway. I bet someone
there can help you.

Hola,
Although your problem is not necessarily a networking issue, a dynamic (one that changes) IP address would cause you to lose connection.
You'll need sometype of software program to set up your webcam for viewing remotely, and such software may have come included with your camera. If
not, there are programs available for purchase and download that you can use. One example would be "WebCam Monitor v3.52" found here:
http://www.deskshare.com/wcm.aspx
Once it's set up, it's just a matter of going online, typing in the particular web address for your camera and you should be able to view it.
Thank you for the help!

Although I haven't had time to mess with it this weekend, I plan to during the coming week and I'll try both these leads as well as the message board.
I'll post again when I have a solution. I'm pretty determined as I'm the one that sat on my roof with my laptop and pointed the blasted antenna with
a crappy crescent wrench and commissioned the setup in the first place.
