Most people exchange tanks in Mexico, every little consupo has them and the trucks drive through with them everywhere. If you have as I do a NEW USA
tank for your camper that you do not wish to exchange, find a filling plant.
In Ensenada there are two big ones that I know of, one on the Highway coming from Tijuana and the other at the top of the grade on highway 3 going
toward San Felipe, both will fill anything.
I fill my own, at my Campo I have a 100LB exchange bottle that the trucks bring around. You need a 48"hose with a POL fitting on both ends ( any good
Mexican Hardware will make you one). Turn the 100LB bottle upside down ( I have a rack) hook hose to tanks and open both valves, crack the vent valve
just a little on the tank you wish to fill, when the vapor coming out turns to a steady white stream shut all off. Unhook and crack main valve on tank
you have filled to make sure its not overfilled. Of course it should go without saying but do this outside , take precautions(500ft to iginition
source etc.). I have another adapter that fills the 1LB tanks, those you need a postal scale to weigh them on, overfilling is easy, and yes its legal,
it is not legal to transport them for sale after refilling.
Yes I know I will get a ton of flack for posting this but this is Mexico not the good old bleeding heart, liberal, protect us from everything from
birth to death USA.
BTW: I have Manufactured, sold,Hauled,Odorized,Vented etc. more Propane/Butane than most of you have ever driven past and yes I have saw tanks busted,
from 5 gal to 100,000 gallons and I have walked into fires and shut the valves off to stop the source of fire.
Respect it but don't live in fear of it.
