Any problem with Dish Network in San Felipe?
We are bring one down with us between 12-22 and 1-6-06
Camping at Nuevo Maztlan
Are there any set up or problems we should be aware of?

No problem here. Both Dish and Direct work fine, I had Direct the first couple of years and switched to Dish about 3 years ago. We even got the free HBO/Showtime Preview this past weekend.

1) you will need a 1.2 (47 inch) dish, minimum.

2) Don't ever call Dish about a problem and tell them you are in Mexico. They may block your receiver. It's against your Dish contract to use it outside of the US.

Quite a bit further south, yes, but not there. You will be fine.

Standard Dish works Fine !

I am located 20 miles South of San Felipe and have installed over a dozen DishnetWork and DirecTV units, four of them my own.

In EVERY case, the standard dishes were used and I am able to get signals peaked in the mid-80s with no problem.

OOPS,
I was thinking Baja Sur! Sorry.

Yes, a standard size dish (at least the one on top my RV) will work all the way down to about San Quintin.

My comment about calling Dish (or Direct), still applies.

I can verify this is NOT true here in San Felipe, like MrBillM said, the standard dish works fine here north of town and where he is, south of town. I too get signal in the 80's.

One would need a larger dish farther south in Baja but not up here.

I get Dishnetwork just fine in L. A. Bay. About a 65 signal on standard size dish. I do have a 1.2 meter dish, but for some unknown reason it doesn't find a signal. I'll be down for New Years and play with it again then.

This doesn't surprise me. I helped a friend set up his Canadian dish. My meter said we had the satellite but no signal. Then we called. Seems they had to change the software forhis account, at their end, for him as he was using a single LNB here and had the quad outlet in Canada, and they have to configure the software according to the hardware installed. They told him he would have to call back when he got back to Canada in the spring. I have never heard of this but it worked. AND, they give the numbers, on the internet, for receiving their signal in Mexico. They didn't care he was down here.
