Just went on their website and it states this. Can anyone confirm?

Bummer, I wanted to hit it this weekend.

How does the ristorante at Punta Morro compare with, say, the original La Fonda or el Rey Sol?

Owner taking a vacation during the slowest time of year.

We have had uneven experiences at Punta Morro, but the view at sunset is hard to beat. Just down the road and around the corner is Sano's, on the right. We had an exceptionally positive experience there recently. Check it out.

The food at Punta Morro is good, but nothing special. The location is what makes it. The food at El Rey Sol is considerably better, but the food at the Coral is worse.

Still worth going to, especially at dinner.

We've also found Sano's as inconsistant as far as service and food quality is concerned

has gone way down hill. took good friends there 1 1/2 years ago and were embarrassed by the quality of food and the service. seafood entrees were dried out and tasteless. when we complained to waiter, he implied we had ordered the wrong food...we had not ordered the restaurant's specialties. huh?? :?:

i subsequently emailed them asking for an explanation of the horrible quality and poor service. never received a response. never returned. :no:

hit the original La Fonda on Saturday night. Not willing to drive to Rosarito or Ensenada on a Saturday night from La Salina.

What are the regular's favorite dishes there? I have been recommended the quail feast, the lobster feast and the camarones.

Good stand in for Laja in Manzanilla

Try Restaurante Manzanilla in place of Laja (which is of course, the best, but they are in fact closed til Jan 6). The website for Manzanilla is www.rmanzanilla.com
The are at Riveroll #122 between 1st and 2nd in Ensenada. In fact, we are headed that way for a late lunch today. I saw in some review or article that it's where the winemakers gather on weekends to share their latest blends and discoveries! Give it a shot.

La Fonda del Rio is the place to go now

and it is the best restaurant at Alisitos (K58) right now, in my humble opinion.

We have eaten at and loved La Fonda (the original) for many years, but the new owners seem to have taken a "stupid gringos on vacation won't notice the food is subpar" attitude.

Every one of our neighbors who came down on T-day vacation and went to La Fonda for breakfast/lunch/dinner/brunch complained to us in subsequent conversations.

Ignacio, the owner of La Fonda del Rio, has restaurants in the Palm Springs area and he knows what he is doing and is dedicated to making things go right.

When you take the exit for La Fonda, turn right instead of left and go into the La Mision Hotel parking lot. La Fonda del Rio is on the oceanfront right in front of you.

Great food, good service, fair prices and all kinds of deals, happy hour specials and an "All-You-Can-Eat" Sunday Champagne Brunch.

<You would think that one breakfast and maybe a lunch would have done the trick. I guess la Fonda's attitude is working for them.

Jan, you're preaching to the choir to me about Del Rio. The food is great and I love sitting down below in the sun during happy hour. Just looking for a different experience this weekend. Gotta give the new owners at LF a try. I'll bring my vehicle theft-deterrent devices. :lol:

But Hotel Mision is pretty clear that they dont want to parking "down" there unless you validate with them. So, it's up on the road for Del Rio, too.

Have you tried to park down by the beach for Palapa Jose lately? No mas! You must park in the infinistessimal lot up from the Palapa. No bueno for the F350.
