Is there still the town dance at Casa Diaz on New Years Eve?
Do kids still throw firecrackers at your feet all night long?
marv sherrill - 12-13-2005 at 02:45 PM
There was last year - they shot guns too - what goes up must come down...

Brian,
Last year there were fireworks being tossed around by the kids as usual, but not on the dance floor. They hang around the parking area, dodging the
police who keep a good eye on them.
Regarding gunshots, it's not like it used to be years past when we would tuck in under the roof, against the side of the building come midnight when
guns would ring out the new year from the dance floor. I personally didn't see or hear any gun shots last year, or for the past three years come to
think of it.
Herman was in his glory last year, showing up in a tux. He'll most likely sport it again this year.
Will we see the Benson Brothers in town this year?

Was there for New Years 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005... no gun shots at Casa Diaz... but lots of small firecrackers being tossed around... Nobody got hurt
to my knowledge.

I will be there so half of the Benson Bros will be present. My little brother, Mikey, lives in Hawaii and won't make it down. Look forward to seeing
everybody.

Where is Casa Diaz?
Mike Supino - 12-14-2005 at 01:12 PM
Casa Diaz is at the southern end of Bahia de Los Angeles on the Sea of Cortez approx. 450 miles from San Diego.
David K - 12-14-2005 at 06:04 PM
Bob, Casa Diaz WAS L.A. Bay as far as most Norteamericano visitors were concerned for some 30 years... It was at the end of the original airstrip, and
pilots parked their planes at their rooms front door!

Correction - I didn't go last year, but we all thought we heard gunshots from our houses north of town - could have been isolated fireworks - Marv
David K - 12-15-2005 at 07:12 PM
Marv, I bet is was 'the boys' at the military base next to your home???
BTW, the new calendar looks great! I like the aerial view pics and that you used Baja Nomad Ken Bondy's great photo, too!
I was there for new year between 78 & 79
BajaVida - 12-17-2005 at 06:37 PM
they had a 4 piece band from Ensenada and a fun time was had by all
I remember a local man trying to slow dance with every woman he could find--even if the song was fast
David K - 12-17-2005 at 06:42 PM
The same continues Vida... that old man is still at it, too! (perhaps it is his son now!)
