Thursday 12-15-05 we noticed that they have reopened the new transition off ramp from northbound Toll road Playas to the border fence road.
Today Friday we took the ramp and it appears that they resurfaced the roadway, added some new striping at the transition/merge area and a sign warning
of merging vehicles.
Use caution and be prepared to jam on the accelerator or the brakes.

Thanks Matt... great to know what we should plan to find when heading north!
People, do you understand Matt's note?
The original exit (right) to the lower TJ loop road (off the the toll hwy.) that went down to where you make the U turn to head up for the steep hill
and go along the border fence was REPLACED with an exit on the far side of the bridge that looped you onto the road heading up the big hill (ie. no
more U turn).
Well, for awhile that exit was closed and some had no option by drive all the way through downtown TJ for the border... until they erected detour
signs telling us to use the original method...
So, once again, the direct exit to the steep hill is open per elgatoloco

Yeah, I`d seen them working on the ramp for a few weeks and knew it would open soon. I too crossed Thurs. and was happy to see the signs to San Diego
point straight (over the bridge) instead of to the right (down the hill). But boy, it still is dangerous with some of those wild drivers!!

Elgatoloco and David...thanks for the tip! Exit is very well marked and this was the first time I used it. Would not have know about it unless I had
read it here! Turned out to be a beautiful afternoon in Puerto Nuevo with a great lobster lunch and afew purchases of tequila that's not available in
the states!
