4-6-8 Sunday to Wednesday 8 am....started kicking up about 9-10 am to 6-8-10....good winds....none to light offshores ...lots of waves not
ridden....but crowds coming as I left....even saw MIKE DOYLE came up from cabo to ride CARDON...I was leaving when he arrived but would have liked to
see a "hero" ride.....

BIG surf here in San Diego. Too much fun and a lot hairy.
Febraury 98 I paddled out at palms on the east cape and surfed with Mike Doyle and his buddies. Nice guys and it was fun being the youngest guy in the
lineup. I still had the biggest board.

Hard to tell as the pier gives a perspective of big waves ...but it might be a "short" pier.....waves I saw were well overhead...but not quite
double.....I did leave at noon and it was just starting to come in....however waves were rideable.....just a LONG paddle out......

Couple of NOMADS said they were heading down for the swell....maybe they have photos and a later report......

OB pier is the longest pier on the west coast, or was. at the bait shack i would estimate from the bottom of the concrete floor of the shack to the
surface to be 18-20'. and the light posts have to be all of 15'.

Used to live near the pier in the early 70's and surf there....walk to beach....

You lucky dawg! Sounds like you had a great trip to the Seven Sisters. This is the first time in 10 years that I did not go for my annual Winter
Solstice trip. Figures that I'd miss some of the biggest surf to come along during that time frame. But I have a brother who just got diagnosed with
inoperable brain tumors, so I spent time with him in Seattle this year. Funny how the illness of a loved one makes everything else, even a great
Mexican surf trip, pale in comparison.

so sorry to hear about your brother! my ex has a grade 4 glioblastoma (sp.). she's been under the knife and done rounds of chemo. she is doing alright
but the outside is 6-7 years. seems these brain tumors are becoming less rare these days.
again, all my best to your brother!!!!

My bro has the same thing, but his is in an inoperable location. My understanding is that the time frame is much shorter than what you posted.
I'm glad I was able to drag him down to Baja a time or two in the past few years. I'm gonna' try to scratch up some photos of him in Baja.
I'll never forget the time that he came with us and brought his road bike in the hopes that we'd be able to drop him somewhere and then meet up again.
(He's like a Lance Armstrong with the cycling thing... healthy as a horse.) Well we dropped him all right.... on a dirt road out near Punta Cabras.
Pointed him in the right direction and gave him a map. A few flat tires and bent rims later, we hooked back up at the Highway later that day. Dirt,
pot hole pavement, cactus... he'd been through it all in that short ride but he loved every minute of it.
Here's hoping that I can take him to Baja once again.
